she lied.

kotone did not confess to gen.

she was close on telling him after their ramen date. what did she do?

backed out in the last minute.

she was angry at herself, too. all she could do at the time was stutter, blush, stutter some more, hold his hand, and did she mentioned; stutter? the moment she left his presence and went into her house, kotone banged her forehead against the wall of her room — though she did cry out in pain and regretted that, she regretted a lot of things — and mentally beat herself up.

kotone wanted nothing more than to just,  raise her courage high enough and actually tell gen that she returned his feelings so they could do all the things she has fantasized.

like, say, cuddling with him underneath the sea of stars in the middle of the night on top of some random hill, his hands wrapped around her waist with his head nuzzling into her neck, and the both of them would enjoy the night breeze and the shining stars, — nothing dirty, really, all she wanted to do was hold him and just, give him all the affection he wanted.

kotone sighed despondently as she looked at the picture gen had posted in one of his social medias. it was a picture of the both of them, with kotone having a surprised look with her mouth full of ramen, and gen's face having a mischievous look.

of course he would post it.

the caption just had a fire emoji, and kotone could only chuckle. he was weird like that, too lazy to think of a caption for his photos.

the girl liked the picture and turned her phone off, placing it on the nightstand next to her bed. she stood up and stretched her arms, before taking her black jacket that she wore before and putting it on.

she descendend the stairs silently and switched on the lights to the living room and the kitchen, though she stopped in front of the kitchen table when she saw her brother sleeping on one of the chairs with his head on his arms, snoring slightly.

kotone could only deadpanned and sigh for the umpteenth time that hour. she poked the man on the head a few times, calling out his name to tell him that he should take a shower before the house smelt like the sewers.

"kibana-nii, you're stinky. go shower." the girl poked him over and over again until he groaned. he rubbed his teal eyes and yawned, stretching his arms out, before placing one of his hand on his younger sister's head.

"where are you going, little lady?" the older one smiled and ruffled kotone's hair affectionately. "isn't it a bit too late for you to go out?"

"aren't you a little bit old to care?" she countered.

the both of them stared at each other, before bursting out with laughter. kibana wiped an imaginary tear after the laughter died down, and leaned his head on his hand, his elbow propped up to support the weight of his head.
