Oakley's POV
We start working next to a narrow crevice near Anubis', which weaves it's way through the ruins. O'Connell ties a rope around a pillar and throws the rest of the coils into the crevice, about to rappel down. Jonathan bends over to have a look, he yelps and backs away. It's the decrepit face of Anubis.
"That thing gives me the creeps" he states.
"Be nice. That thing saved my life" Rick tells him. As Evie and I position the ancient Egyptian mirrors to catch the sun light.
"That thing gets me excited" Evie tells them happily.
"The things that get you excited" O'Connell says sarcastically.
"Not like that silly" I tell him smiling. "According to Bembridge Scholars, inside the statue of Anubis was a secret compartment, perhaps containing The Book Of Amun Ra" I explain.
"Exactly" Evie says smiling.
"What are those mirrors for?" he asks Evie.
"Ancient Egyptian trick. You'll see" Evie tells him smiling. O'Connell shrugs, then rappels down into the crevice. I follow him and Evie follows me. Jonathan comes next, followed by the Warden.
Evelyn peers into the spooky darkness. "Do you realize, we are standing inside a room that no one has entered in over four thousand years" she tells us.
"Yes, quiet thrilling" I tell her as I head over to the mirror. I brush the cobwebs away from a mirror on the wall. "And then there was light" I say as I reposition it on it's pedestal, aiming it at a ray of light shining in from the outer mirrors.
The ray of light hits it and quickly bounced around the room. From one mirror to the next, until the whole chamber lit up. The light rays shoot off down the passage ways also. "Hey, that is a neat trick" O'Connell states smiling at Evie.
"Oh my god, It's a preparation room" Evie says excitedly.
"Preparation for what?" O'Connell asks confused.
"For entering the after life" I say spookily in his ear. He pulls out his gun and I giggle.
"Mummies, my good son, this is where they made the mummies" Jonathan tells him. Evelyn heads down a narrow passageway and we all follow. We hear something and freeze. It sounds like somebody is clawing inside the walls.
'Nubia!' I hear something call and look around confused. We continue on as the men draw their guns. We reach the legs of Anubis as we hear the sound of footsteps approaching. Evie and I stay behind the men as I draw my knife.
We reach the corner and the Americans jump out guns raised. "Ya scared the bejeezus out of us, O'Connell" the cowboy says as they lower their guns.
"Likewise" we say as we lower ours.
"This here is our statue,... friend" says the one beside the cowboy.
"Don't see your name on it" I tell him and we raise our weapons again. The tension thickens. Then Evelyn gently takes O'Connell's gun hand and pulls it down.
"Let's be nice, children, if we're going to play together, we must learn to share" she scolds us. She then looks at O'Connell and I. "There are other places to dig" she tells us.
"Your the boss cuz" I say sheathing my knife. O'Connell holsters his guns along with the others. Evelyn leads down other passage way deeper below ground.
