Damian POV
⇥"𝙄 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙬 𝙪𝙥 in a fortress in the mountains, from a young aged I was groomed to be the best assassin there was. My mission was to carry on my Grandfather's vision of the world, so that earth abides by its natural content, without the abuse of man. I was given everything, the title, the command, the power, everything. From the age of 1-3, my mother was a nurturing mother, loving and caring. I would constantly ask her about my father and when I could meet him. She said I would have to earn it, so I would train harder. My mother would tell me stories of Alexander the Great. She said I was Alexander and she was Queen Olympias, and my father was King Phillip. One day I asked why did you name me Damian, she said the word Damian comes from the Greek word Damianos which mean to tame. She said taming the world this wild world I would do as an al Ghul. And after I would of I would control it and posses it, and she would show me how. Together would have made an everlasting kingdom, and if all went well my father would have joined.
When I was 5 I began to train with my grandfather, I instantly made him the centre of my world. Since of my father's absence, he sort of was a father figure to me. From seven I would go on missions around the world, I would also teach other assassins as well. Then at ten, Slade took over and killed my grandfather, and tragically my grandfather didn't make it to the Lazurus pit in time,"
I started to cry, I then felt a hug from her. I would have pushed everyone away, but this hug felt different. Like the world had stopped, for at least a minute, or time had slowed down. I hid my face in her neck. I felt safe with her like everything else didn't matter.
"You don't have to go on if you don't want to," she said kindly. God her voice was like velvet.
"It's okay, I'll go on," I said in her neck
I wiped my tears away and took a deep breath.
"so after Slade took over, my mother left me with my father, Batman,"
"aka Bruce Wayne," she said softly
"How did you know?"
"It's not that hard to figure out. And besides, you look like the younger version of him, but with beautiful emerald green eyes," she said
"Anyways, I was left in the care of Father. I finally got to meet him. But it wasn't the exact happy reunion how I planned out when I was younger. As much hate that I showed I was honoured to meet him. A year went passed I met the court of owls, and a person from there called Talon. He understood me, but in the end, I sided with my father. The next year my mother returned with some plan to take over the world which wasn't the vision of my grandfather. She made this older version of me. He had no soul and he once he captured me where I found father in the same place. He wanted to take my memories. Then my mother killed him right in front of me. She said he was flawed, but as much as I hated him he just wanted to know my mother. Also, batwoman made an appearance and the rest is history,"
She just stared at her feet in thought.
"You look up to him, don't you? You want to make him proud, prove yourself. You've lost your father figure in the past, your mother doesn't care as you once thought, and the only family figure you have is your father," she says
She looks out to see then a smile appears on her face.
"I believe what we become depends on what our fathers teach us, at those odd moments when they aren't trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom," she quotes
"Where's that from?" I ask
"Umberto Eco," she says
"It is true how knowledge power, but is also important on how we use it. Abusing it will only lead to retaliation, knowledge is supposed to be shared or used wisely to help future generations or to a better world," she looks at me
I gazed down at my feet then at her eyes, those dark eyes that if I stare too long I might never come back out of.
I look down "Witch girl said that my grandfather was a demon, and she knew her demons. Is he a demon?" I ask
"Well, what do you think?"
"No, he's a hero,"
"Well, then he's not a demon then. If you think he isn't a demon I believe you," she says
"Do you really think so?" I ask
"Yes, it's all about perspective,"
"But she went through my mind, she all everything," I say straight after
"Well she may have your past, but she saw it in her view, not yours,"
I smile at her. It felt good, to finally have someone who truly understands me.
"Starfire told me you were good, I just didn't know you we're this good,"
"Thanks," she says simply
"You have a way with words," I say
"Words are very valuable. A simple sentence or just a word can cause destruction that can reign for many years. It can decide whether there is peace or death. Words are like money, it goes around yet they are worth differently," she says "There's a word for everything but sometimes emotions can loud things that we believe that words cannot comprehend the matter at hand, or we simply weren't taught the knowledge to do so,"
"Is there a word for that?" I point at the moonlight on the water.
"mångata, the reflection of the moonlight on the water," she says
"What about me," I say
"Arcane, meaning: mysterious, secret, understood by only a few, Kakorrhapiphobia: the fear of failure, Athazagoraphobia: the fear of being forgotten, ignored, or being replaced," she says
She was wised beyond her years, and I smiled at the choice of words. It wasn't reckless or demon, or mean.
She understood me.
