Written in the Stars

Prologue

     Commotion breaks out in a clearing below. A black tom sits in a low branch in a gnarled oak tree. An orange tabby calls out from below.
     "What do you mean, you've received a prophecy from the Ancient Clans!?"
     "Yes! No one has spoken to them for many seasons! What makes them come to you, of all cats, now!" Another cat chimes in.
     The black tom rises to his paws, gazing out over the crowd. "I suppose you all have forgotten who I am, cats of StarClan."
     The orange tabby rises to her paws, amusement, love, and confusion in her gaze. "Of course I haven't forgotten you, Ravenstar. We are all just confused. So please, tell us this prophecy you received."
     A purr rumbles in Ravenstar's throat. "Thank you, Spittingburr. The prophecy I received was from the Ancient LionClan, TigerClan, and LeopardClan. They told me that great times of trouble are coming, and they will be sending three cats, each one to a different Clan. Those cats will either unite and save their Clans from outsiders, or destroy them in the wake of their powers."
     The cats in the clearing were now silent, gazing up at Ravenstar in astonishment. Spittingburr pads toward him, her head tilted to the side.
     "I have bore many kits in my days; how will these three kits, if they are to be descendants from the three Ancient Clans, come into the world?"
     "I am glad you asked, Spittingbur. The Ancients told me to pick three she cats, ones that are strong enough to bore these kits. And I choose Brindlewhisker of WasteClan, Featherdawn of SnowClan, and Missingfire of BluffClan. In the next few moons, they will bring these kits into the world."
     The cats in the clearing all look at one another as the names are spoken. "Lets hope that these three kits will do the right thing, and not bring down the Clans."
