I never left Allison's side at the bed on which her unmoving body lay; I didn't sleep that night, or eat Moominmamma's delicious fruit breakfast or drink the tea I love so much.
Moominpappa had managed to remove the dagger that dug into her chest up to the hilt, while Snufkin, the Hemul, and the Snork had managed to gather healing herbs to block and relieve the wound.
Here she peacefully sleeps: not dead, but lingering.
Snufkin hasn't come up to check on me yet, and I couldn't care less what he's doing. I just want my sister to be okay.
She stirs. I nearly jump from my seat, yelping out her name. "Allie!"
She gulps weakly, trying to open her eyes. "(Y/N). Listen... to m-me," she stammers in pain.
My vision blurs with my own bitter tears. I know deep down what's about to go down, and the stigma of that knowledge hurts more than the knowledge itself.
"I want you to know that you and the bros are the best siblings I could have ever asked for. You guys annoy the shit out of me, but I love each and every one of you. I always will."
A tear slips down my face as I try to smile and mourn at the same time.
"Hey. Don't cry," she tries to comfort me.
"How can I not cry when I know that I'm going to lose you again?" I mutter through cries and more tears covering my cheeks with that salty dampness.
"You're not gonna lose me," she says between coughs and shortness of breath. "I'll always be there beside you. Even long after I'm gone from the physical plane, my spirit will be with you. Never forget that."
I grasp her hand, unable to stop the heartbreak now.
"(Y/N). My last wish-" she coughs again, weakening more- "is for you to go back home. Find a way back. And be happy." She smiles, laying back into the bedding, looking up at the sky. "You'll be okay." She speaks no more, exhaling a few heavy gasps until she moves no more. Her hand goes limp, and her glassy eyes are locked skyward.
I start crying again into my hands.
"I love you so much, Allie."
Through my tears as they lessen, I cover her body with the blanket that lay on top of her as a shroud as I bid her a final farewell and exit the room in grief.Snufkin's Perspective.
I can't even try to catch a decent fish- nor can I seem to concentrate on it- knowing that the young woman who just saved the lives of me and my beloved- her sibling- is in critical health. She took the blow so that we could escape. I can't help but feel horrible that I allowed that to happen; what is (Y/N) going through? Having no family other than My, I could never imagine what they're feeling, especially beside Allison at such a difficult time.
That guilt fills my mind again.
I hear the door to Moominhouse open and close; getting up and deciding to neglect the fishing rod I see (Y/N): but something is wrong. Their face is red, their cheeks wet and breath ragged, unable to form words.
I don't need an explanation; I just hold them in my arms without a word uttered for what feels like forever, as long as they need me to be there.
They don't let go for hours.
I cry with them.I'm so so sorry for the inactivity guys. I'll try to finish the book this month, only two or three more chapters to go!!
How are you loves doing this quarantine? Are you still in lockdown or are you reopening? Hope yall are doin' well.Stan Twice and stream "More & More" guys.
