(Hazel's Point Of View)

"Let's get one thing clear guys. Boys suck."

"Molly! Ben doesn't!"

"High school is the thing that sucks, Molly."

The group was arguing about boys and high school again.

"Hazel!"

"What?" I looked up, still lost in thought.

"What's your thoughts on this?"

Ring Ring Ring

"Oof. Sorry girls, bell rang. Gotta go." They looked at me as they watched me walk away, and then continued their argument.

Sigh. Thank God the bell rang. Maybe I could sit in the library for lun-

"Ouch! Watch where you are going. Nerd!"

I looked up to see a tall, dark-haired man walking away, laughing.

What a jerk. Didn't even see if I was okay, or helped me up. Sigh. Guys these days.

I went on my way to my first class. English II.

The sophomore classrooms are slightly bigger than the freshman classrooms, but smaller than the juniors'.

Mrs. Lee was outside her room, handing out papers.

"Good morning, find an empty desk and start working on this." She hands me a worksheet, and repeats her line to the students behind me.

I walked into the room, and quickly scanned it.

It was a rectangle-shaped room, with windows on the wall in front of the door. On the left side of the room was the teacher's desk, and the class library. On the right side of the room were sixteen desks, four in each row, and four columns. The center of the room was a similar set up to the right. Right of the door stood a podium, a smart board and a white board that said, "WELCOME TO: Mrs. Lee's English II Honors Class."

I chose the corner desk on the right side of the room that was by the window, farthest in the last row. The classroom quickly filled up, I finished the handout sheet the teacher gave me, and I looked out of the window. I turned my head to the door, and saw Mrs. Lee walking behind a student. I stared at the student for a while, and realized who he was. He was the same guy that knocked me down earlier!

Mrs. Lee shut the door, and started her powerpoint of who she was. The boy chose a desk and started unpacking his things. He must've noticed that I was in the same class, because he pointed at me and started laughing with some of the other students.

The day seemed to drag on forever when the bell rang for lunch period.

Finally. Freedom!

I walked to the library and started to work on my homework.

"Excuse me. Is this seat taken?"

A cute girl was staring at me, with her left hand grabbing the chair. Her right was holding some books. She had shoulder length black hair and green eyes. Freckles were scattered on her nose, and she wore black glasses.

"No it isn't." I replied.

"Thank you. My name is Scarlett Robinson."

She smiled at me. "Hazel Smith."

"Nice to meet you, Hazel."

"You too."

I continued to do my homework, and every now and then would look over at her. She was really cute, but I couldn't date a girl again. Not after what happened last time. I just met her too, I better keep the knowledge of her existence away from the group. Especially Mia.

Mia is a short girl with long, pretty hair. Brown eyes and blonde hair. She is a cheerleader, and quite popular. Mia is a very outgoing person, and has no problem speaking her mind. She loves to "play" matchmaker, and is friends with everyone. I met Mia over the summer.

Emma is a tall soccer player. She has mid-length red hair and blue eyes. She's shy around new people, but comes out of her shell when she begins to know them. She gives out great advice, and helps people with their issues. Emma was the first person that I met and became friends with when I first moved here four years ago.

Molly is the typical average high school girl. She isn't popular, but she isn't like me, in the shadows, either. She is average height and weight, average grades as well. She sure does have a lot of drama though. She seems to have a new issue every day, but she is still a kind person. I met Molly 2 years ago.

Finally, me. I'm short, with long wavy light brown hair with hazel eyes. I have glasses, but never wear them, and I have random freckles across my face. I'm on the volleyball team, and taking AP and Honors classes, so I'm pretty smart. I love to paint and love animals as well. I'm not very popular though.

"Hazel?" Scarlett turned her head, as tears started to form.

"Come here." I lead Scarlett to the nearest bathroom. I opened the door and we went into the bathroom. The tears came flowing down, and she slid to the floor leaning against a bathroom stall door.

I sat in front of her, and wiped the tears away.

"What's wrong?"

She handed me a note, and started to cry again.

"Scarlett Robinson,

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to break things off with you. I just can't be your girlfriend any longer. It isn't you, but it is about you. I'm sorry Scarlett, for believing the rumors. I just didn't know who to believe anymore, and too much has changed in our relationship. I hope you can forgive me.

Love, Lilly."

I gave her a hug and helped her calm down. I helped her to her feet, and led her to the sink. She watched her face, gave me another hug, and told me about her relationship.

"She left me. She left me because of the rumors."

"I'm sorry Scarlett."

Scarlett didn't even notice that I was still there. She was off in her head, so I thought it was best to leave her be. I put a small note in her jacket pocket with my number on it before I left. I headed to the commons area.

"Did you hear?"

"Hear what?"

"A girl- Hey Hazel!"

Molly was gossiping with the girls again. The girls turned and waved at me.

"Hey." I replied and smiled. "I, uh, I have to go guys. I'm sorry."

I left and headed to my next class. Two more classes and then I could go home. As I walked down the corridor, I was stopped by a tall man. He wore a student uniform, so I assumed he was a student. I looked up at his face and realized that he was the same dude from my first class.

"Can you please move out of my way?"

"No." He stared down at me, his dark brown eyes piercing my soul. He pushed me into the lockers, and held me tightly by the shoulders.

"Let. Me. Go."

He kept his firm grip on my shoulders. "No."

"Let me go. Please. Any moment the bell will ring, kids will come flooding into this hallway, and see you pinning me against the lockers. Is that really what you want?"

He tilted his head slightly to the left, and his face lightened up.

"That's what I thought. Now. Let me go, and stop following me every where I go." I shoved him out of the way and ran as fast as I could to my next class.
