Narration
The two girls had ordered their 3-course meals and were patiently waiting for it to arrive. Irene took the opportunity to wash her hands and Jisoo found herself alone for a short while. She looked around and noticed that most of the customers were couples, some of them enjoying their food while some were busy taking pictures to cherish this memory forever. At that moment, she hated to admit it, but she felt jealous.
She missed the days where her and Jinyoung used to go on dates together, the heart fluttering moments she experienced during their short period of being in a relationship had been carved in her heart and mind. She missed the way his eyes disappeared when he smiled at her sight, the way their fingers intertwined, the way he knew when she was a having a hard time because of work, maybe the others were right, maybe he really was the perfect guy for her. Jinyoung understood the emotional luggage that came with being a psychiatrist and he was always there to lessen the load, yet she took advantage of the care he gave her and couldn't return the same amount of love. How ignorant and selfish had she been that such a selfless man had decided to leave?
Reminded of her old memories, Jisoo felt gloomy and the bitter aftertaste of the once-so-sweet love she possessed overcame her senses. Thankfully, Irene came back right before the tears that had welled up in her eyes, spilt. Jisoo immediately stood up and headed to the bathroom, her eyes fixed on the ground, which confused her companion.
When she arrived at the bathroom, she stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes were slightly red, they stung from the pain of holding back the tears that were threatening to spill any second now. She blinked as quickly as she could and looked up at the ceiling. It was during these moments when she wonders if she'll ever get married and live a happy married like her parents. If Jinyoung was the perfect man for her and she let him go, is there still someone else out there waiting for her?
She looked back at herself and noticed that her mascara was slightly smudged. She quickly fixed it and then washed her hands before returning to their table. It wasn't the time to mope around. She took one last look at her appearance and exited the washroom.
On her way to the table, she bumped against a man wearing a flashy red suit, to whom she gave a weird look for his peculiar taste in fashion, before bowing as an apology. The man nodded at her and headed the opposite way. Jisoo only briefly saw his face but she picked up a few facial features of his. He had a very smooth and pale skin. She also noticed his long lashes and his tall nose bridge. He was definitely good-looking.
As she arrived at the table, the waiter had just arrived to serve them their food. Jisoo was relieved, she could temporarily postpone the questions that were waiting to be asked by Irene. Her friend's suspicious looks put her on the spot, but she refused to acknowledge them and focused all her attention on the food lain down in front of her.
"Bon appétit, Mesdemoiselles." The waiter wished them a good meal and left.
Jisoo dug on her food like her life depended on it, which earned a small chuckle from Irene. "Were you that hungry?" Jisoo nodded in response and internally sighed out of relief. Irene had caught on that she didn't want to talk about it.
