Author's POV

Jungkook sat in his office staring out the window...he had been staring at nothing for several minutes as his assistant Jimin looked on, waiting for his boss to notice his presence.

Jungkook and Hyerin were both dealing with their pain in similar ways...avoidance and isolation. They walked around their home and his office like polite strangers. Days, weeks and months went by...Hyerin's and Jungkook's bodies recovered much quicker than their hearts did. By the time 6 months had gone by...they were further apart than ever in their relationship.

Jungkook would remember the joy they both felt on their honeymoon...then when they discovered each other's true selves and really fell in love. He missed his wife...the closeness they felt...the intense pleasure they gave each other. They had not made love since the accident, even though the doctor said Hyerin was well recovered. Jungkook could not find it in himself to approach her like that, she still seemed incredibly fragile and vulnerable. He almost wanted to pick a fight with her...irritate her enough that she would show SOME emotion! Something other than the cool, passive girl that was too polite and reserved! But he was afraid...he was afraid that if she started crying again, that she would never stop.

On Hyerin's side...she didn't feel much of anything. She was afraid if she felt anything too real...she would disintegrate. So she closed and locked the door of the nursery she had so lovingly prepared and let her mind drift. She would try and think about anything but their lost son...yes the baby was a boy and how if it wasn't for that night, her life would be so different. She and Jungkook would still be crazy in love...with each other and their child. She knew that she should get out more...but do what? Get back involved in the Seoul corporate social scene? That bored her to tears before? No...she couldn't face it...even to be with Jungkook. Even to be with her husband, who she still loved to distraction. So many nights when he was working late in his home office, she longed to go in to him and crawl up in his lap...and just hold him...smelling his unique sweet scent and reconnect with him. She knew that he was the key to her recovery but she just couldn't take that first step.

Jungkook's father asked if they could meet for lunch one day. His dad looked at his son appraisingly and said,

"How are things son?" Mr. Jeon said.

Jungkook shrugged and replied, "We are...still working on things dad...things are still hard."

"I know they are son.(Being sympathetic) I have a proposition for you...(Jungkook looked at him expectantly) What about you and Hyerin move to the Caribbean, to the island of St. Bart's and you can oversee the new project there?"

Jungkook was shocked but listening, his dad continued, "I think getting out of Seoul would be good for you...both! Think about it...a tropical paradise? It could be just what the doctor ordered."

Hmmm.

So three weeks later Jungkook and Hyerin moved into a beautiful villa in the Four Seasons Resort on the Island of St. Bart's...they were both optomistic...but it wasn't as easy as adding palm trees and subtracting kimchee!
