Aanya:

"The next 24 hours are going to be very critical for him. He needs to respond to the treatment as soon as possible. And Mrs. Hussein I know its very difficult for you to handle all this, but as a doctor its my duty to prepare you for the worst case scenario. I need you to stay stronger than ever." The doctor said.

He was looking at me with pity.

He was looking at me as if the worst case scenario which he was talking about has already happened. I don't know about my Hussein, but it looked like the doctor has already given up on him.

And I hate that!!

"Any other questions you would like to ask regarding Mr. Hussein's condition?" He asked.

Finding myself at loss of words, I simply moved my head side to side.

Its not like I had no questions to ask. Thousands of questions were raising in my mind. But it was as if cat got my tongue. It was as if I have suddenly lost the ability to speak.

"Okay. I'm going to give you guys some privacy," Saying this he left the cabin leaving us all alone.

I did not move. I did not speak. I just remained rooted to my place. Except for the sounds of my ragged breathing and occasional sniffing there was no other sound.

After a while, I heard commotion behind me. And then I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Bhabhi..." Rehan called me.

But I did not utter a word.

After a while he called me again. But I did not answer again.

He sighed and removed his hand from my shoulder but I could still feel his presence behind me. Then suddenly, I felt him holding my elbow and yanking me from the chair forcing me stand in front of him.

I did not even dare to meet his eyes as I was scared of breaking down. I was scared that he would know how weak and helpless I was feeling. I didn't want to see the same pity in his eyes that I had seen in the doctor's eyes.

"Bhabhi please say something." Rehan pleaded.

"How?" That is all came out of my mouth. I wanted to yell at him but my voice came as a mere whisper.

"Umm, Bhabhi, actually, Hussein has so many enemies. I'm sure you're aware of this. They tried multiple times to harm Hussein in any possible way that they could think of. But every time they tried something Hussein always took care of it. But this time, our rival attacked him when he was least bothered about the work."

A look of confusion crossed over my face as soon as heard his words.

"What do mean by least bothered? Hussein always gives his work the first priority. He never ignores a thing related to work. He is not a procrastinator." I stated.

"Yes you're right, Bhabhi. But this started during your pregnancy period. At that time, you and the babies were his first priority. He wasn't coming to the office on a regular basis due to your ill health. Since he wanted to stay by your side all the time, he started to work from home and due to which he was distracted and unaware of the things that were happening in his absence. I was looking after everything in his absence. But, I couldn't see what was happening and by the time I found out, it was already too late."

"Do you remember this Bhabhi? Hussein had to attend a meeting in Dubai but you suddenly went in to labour and he had to rush to the hospital? After the delivery, Hussein asked me to attend this meeting on his behalf because he did not want to leave your side. So, I left for Dubai and stayed there for a few days and that's when our rivals found a perfect opportunity to attack us."
