Turning all things upside down won't make it right, will it? Actually I didn't get the chance to live my life the way I wanted but instead I am living as if I had another choice.
Since we are on it, I will tell you the most dark secret of my life but of course I am hesitant. After I tried to tell my parents, they thought I was losing my mind. They even talked about admitting me into a special school. But shortly afterwards, they died in a car accident. It all happened so fast that I really don't remember what my childhood was like. But I sometimes hear from my elder sister, Lily, who I cherish the most because she is the only one left for me in this strange world. Since middle school, I had no friends. It's obvious after spending three years on bed, sleeping.
At the age of eleven when my whole life was engulfed by darkness and when everything had gone to hell. It was a bright sunny day, as usual I got up and went downstairs. It was a normal day for all of us. Mom was making breakfast while dad was reading newspaper and Lily was packing her bag
'Good Morning!', I said.
'My sweetie is up!', dad had replied with a cherishing smile across his face.
My dad had been a great supporter. Every time I had a problem, he would say 'I know my girl can do it' because he always knew that I wanted to hear that. He was working at a newspaper company as an editing director. Regardless of his tight schedule he would spend time with us. Thinking about him, I was smiling the whole time.
'What a bright face, honey!', my mom had said from other side of the kitchen.
I quietly sat down and waited. Mom served us breakfast. My stomach was growling with hunger. Mom was getting ready for office. Then the time came for us to leave. My mom was working at the same company as my father's and she was the executive manager. So, my parent always went to office together after dropping us at school.
School was fun those days. I had a lot friends because I was quite famous as I have natural aesthetic beauty. Blonde hair, dark round eyes were all thanks to dad. I excelled at all subjects which made the people around me adore me more.
That day at school was normal too. When the bell rang, I got up from my seat and was heading towards the door when someone called my name,
"Aelin!"
I turned back and found Alex waving at me. It was sure unexpected as I never had even glanced in his way. He sure was a really popular guy. Being athletic along with his good grades surely made him that way. But I heard some weird rumors about him that made me hesitant to even talk to him. But it was all so sudden that I couldn't get the chance to turn away.
He rushed towards me and panted.
'I am sorry! I startled you." he said, forcing a smile on his face.
"It's okay!".
"You know about the basketball match tonight, right?".
I nodded.
"Will you come?".
Something exciting rushed in me and I couldn't help myself from refusing.
He smiled and said " I'll get goin' now".
My friends were all waiting for me at the exit.
" OMG! Alex Smith just talked to Aelin" cried Lysandra.
"What did he say?" shouted Lydia.
"Nothing special".
"It's not possible. Star of the school met the beauty and said nothing special! Are you trying to fool us?"
"Okay! okay. He asked if I am going to his basketball tournament." I sighed.
We all were then headed towards the parking lot. I saw Lily coming towards me.
" I am going to be late today. Go by yourself and take care. I will be home after my off time."
Lily was a high school senior but she was taking care of her expenses by doing a part time job at a restaurant.
I went to the bus station and took the first bus. I don't know but I was feeling something strange back then. My instincts kept telling me to run away but I stayed. Then suddenly I heard some strange voices and the whole world shook. I tried to cover my ears and fell off. My heart was throbbing and my whole body was aching. I screamed my eyes shut and that was when the darkness engulfed me.
