I shouldn't look into her eyes. That's a sign of aggression. But then what is the sign of submission?

"Give me a reason to leave you like this?" Lily stared right into my eyes, her face tensed.

"I don't know!" I closed my eyes to avoid that vicious spirit lingering around my sister but she seemed not to notice it.

" Why can't you look at my face while talking to me? I am tired to see you behave like a low lying beast. You are eighteen, you cannot live like this anymore."

My muscles tightened the second she stood up. This argument also ended with no conclusion and like always she turned towards the door to leave.

It hurts to see you ruin your life in this shabby place', she said in a low tone, almost in an unrecognizable voice, over her shoulders.

I do believe in ghosts but spirits...

It has been 4 years since I came in contact with spirits. After I woke up from the 3 year deep sleep, I was in a countryside trauma center. A woman in her late thirties was standing in front of me. If it wasn't for the scars on her face, she would have been pretty. She moved her hands with such grace over the injections and medicines on the table next to my bed that I couldn't get my eyes off her and she stopped when she met my opened eyes. Her eyebrows rose like she saw something nearly impossible.

" You are awake?" her voice was unexpectedly hoarse.

"Yes", I found my own voice unrecognizable. It required a lot of effort to speak.

"How do you feel?"

It took some time to realize that she was a nurse. When I didn't reply. She continued "Your family visits you every Saturday, and lucky you, today is Saturday!"

"What happened?" I asked.

When I tried to turn my head, I saw a reflection of an usual face on the window. But I soon realized it was my own. My nose appeared to be pointed and my eyes were swollen.

"Well!" she cleared her throat drawing my attention to her.

" It has not been quite a time since you were here but according to your reports you were in bed since 2012."

" What is the day today?" I asked in a breath.

'Its December... 3rd, 2015"

I was shocked. Three years had passed without me even realizing. No wonder it was winter. I remembered every single detail of yesterday, which of course was 3 years ago. My mind was so messy that I didn't even realize when people rushed in.

I heard some familiar voices crying and screaming but I was hearing something beyond that. Some voices that didn't belonged to this world but some other. And when I opened my eyes wide, some unrealistic things were lingering around. They were horrifying and frightening. I pulled the blanket up to my face just to avoid looking at them, I thought it was all because I woke up after a long time but .... someone tried to pull back the blanket and I screamed. It was when darkness enveloped me again.

"What does that mean, doctor?" It was my mother, the voice that I was dying to hear.

I mustered up energy to open up my eyes. I recognized that face in no time. Silver lining in her eyes.

"Aelin" Lily said.

I smiled as I didn't know what else to do. But again..... those faded shadows, they were there again. Lily stepped out of room most probably to call the staff. I saw something..  a woman? a ghost? maybe a spirit... Then another appeared, it seemed like she was hit by a deadly hammer several times. A scream got stuck in my throat. One after another, those spirits appeared in front me. Now it was me and only them and no one else in the room.
