Could It Really Be?

Chapter two

Kaylee's pov

As we stand here in the woods just looking at each other like 'now what'. "okay so I'll break the awkwardness. I need to get far away from here as possible." I turn and look at Paige "If you're coming you have to understand you will be in danger with me, and you have to leave your family." I stated hoping it might change her mind but, at the same time hoping she stays. She looks down at the ground "I don't live with my family. I moved here on my own to live with my crazy aunt. My parents sent me away.." her eyes now filling with tears. I wrap my arms around her pulling her in for a hug.

After a couple of minutes we decide it's not safe in the woods and take off running till the boy open the door to his old truck. Now that I think about it I don't know his name but he knows mine.

I look over at him since we have been driving for hours now. Even his looks make me calm I don't understand wow I know him. he kinda looks like me. If I was a boy of corse. I can tell he is very strong and has been hurt a bit too.

I felt a hand on my thigh knowing it was Paige just by the shocks and tingles. I smile and relax into her. "My name is Xavier. I'm guessing your Paige." He smiled at her making her nod her head. "yeah my name is Paige, but I'm just curious as to how you know my mate here.?" she said look at him and tightened her grip that ended up around my hips.

He sighs loudly and then pinches the bridge of his nose. "See that's a really long story that Kaylee may not be ready to hear just yet. Also another reason why I'm not bringing her home just yet." Bringing me home? What the hell does he mean by that!? Oh my what if I was singed off as to be married to him!? EWWW NO! I have my mate and I'm so thankful that's she's so beautiful short dark black hair, great body she looks like she can out run me, and beautiful bright blue eyes and pink full lips.

"What do you mean by being her home?!" Paige asks getting really protective over me. I'm guess she was thinking everything weird like I was.

"Okay now now no need to try and rip out my throat. Besides what every your thinking isn't at all the story behind me and Kaylee. but it will have to wait till I know she is strong and understanding and when she is able to open up to me. I looked at him 'yeah right. me open up to anyone'.

We finally stopped to get food. I paid for Paige even though she insisted to pay for her self. I end up having almost every thing on the menu everyone looked at me like I was crazy and super fat. i looked at them with their mouths hanging open. "What? I haven't eaten in a while and I'm starving.." They both start cracking up laughing at me this making me frown beeper. "Stop laughing at me. I was being serious. I haven't had anything to eat in a long time." I start eating my food before it all gets cold as they both sat there looking at me. I'm guessing they were taking in what I just said. Letting my mood get the best of me and let a little to much slip out.

After eating EVERYTHING I stood up from my chair looking like I had a food baby. Legit my tummy looked like I was about to have triplets!

We got back on the road again no telling where we were now. I'm guessing somewhere in North Carolina up in the mountains. "Do u have any idea where we are going?" I asked him. He nodded his head yes as we pulled up to a store. "Go pick out the food you both like and I'll do the same and then meet me at the cash-registers." We nodded our heads and went on our way picking out food.

Paige and I shared a cart, Going through the whole store finding all our favorite things too eat. I even grabbed 3 stakes, after yesterday I fell in love with stake. By the time we all were finished picking out food we paid and left. Xavier was still talking to the person while me and Paige went to load everything into the truck.

Few seconds later Xavier came out to help. "Who was that guy you were talking to in there?" I asked not really sure why I was so nervous. "that's my buddy Kyle. We have been best friends since we were young and we came to the log cabin and that's were we" he points at all three of us "are going to stay there for a little while." we nod our heads and finish packing up the food. "Well we better hurry before it gets darker it's a long drive back up the mountain but, I'm hoping I picked a good stop to hide out. It's very hard to track us there."

Heading up the mountain took us a while, it was beautiful though. It's also a good thing his truck had heat. ITS FREEZING! We turned down this road that looks like no one has been here for awhile. pulling up to this massive log cabin. I've never seen a place so big and beautiful! It looked like a perfect painting with the snow and the perfect landscaping. Paige looked at me and I looked at her with the same expressions on our faces. "It's so pretty! And HUGE!" I finally say and Paige nods her head in agreement. "Yeah it sure is something but if u don't hurry up and help me bring in the food you have to sleep out side." Xavier chimes in as we help him with being the food in. I grab my bag of clothes and money. Xavier lights up a huge fire in this most beautiful fire place. "okay there are six rooms you guys can choose to sleep in. I on the other hand am going to sleep in my room but you guys can pick which ever one you want, even the master bedroom."

With that we both go on the hunt for the perfect bed. Which by the way ended up being the master bedroom. It's so big you could fit like six of my old bedrooms in it. I flop down on the bed sighing out a big breath. I for got how good it felt to be in a warm bed. Paige crawls in with me wrapping an arm around me pulling me in. I wince in pain as does so, hoping she didn't notice but with my luck she did. She pulls up my shirt reveling my dark purple bruises and a scar on my right hip from him throwing a beer bottle at me. I try to push my shirt back down but just pins my grands above my head. "Stop Paige please." "How?" "How what?" I ask back as if I didn't understand her question. "Don't okay stupid Kaylee. what did he do to you?" She ran ur finger lightly over my bruises and my scars. "Isn't it noticeable can't you see what he has done. He beats everyday starves me. The day I ran he tried to rape me." tears were now flowing freely down my face.

"He would tell me it's my fault my mother is dead. That she never loved me to begin with. He should have killed me from the beginning. He's right though, I don't even understand why I'm running from him. Maybe because I bed had a chance to live or because I don't believe him." She leans in closer to me wiping away my tears "don't ever say he was right. You're worth so much to me already. I would lay my life down for yours in a heart beat." I put my hand on the side of her face pulling her down to me giving her my very first kiss.

She straddled my hips as kissed. My hands making it down to her lower back. Feeling things getting hotter more intense when our door opened reveling a shocked Xavier. He puts his hand on the back of his neck "Oh hey there sorry about that but dinner is ready. Cone down when you're both ready."

He closed the door as we start cracking up laughing. Paige falls off of my still laugh and holding on to me. When we finally calmed down she gets up and starts walking to the door "You conin'?" I grab her by the hips and plant my lips to hers. "Yeah I'm ready now."
