The lavender fields laid out before me, like a sea of purple daring to enchant the passers by. The elegant scent filled my nose with pure bliss, a wave of calm washing over me as the honey bees hummed gently. I plucked a piece of lavender off the long stalk and rubbed it between my palms, allowing the alluring scent to become present on my body. William took my hands and pressed a soft kiss on the back of them before moving in to pull me into a warm embrace, which I accepted without a second thought. As we parted a bee landed gracefully on my arm. My heart skipped a beat and it took most of my strength not to move and squeal out of fear. As calm as ever William carefully picked it up off my arm and sent it on its merry way. We wandered hand in hand through the lavender, the summer breeze harmonising with the orchestra of bees. A wooden bench decorated with floral engravings sat invitingly amongst the lavender, displaying a view of mother nature's finest work; worth all the gold under the mountain. I sat with my head on his shoulder, eyes closed, enjoying the way the wind played with my hair and the sound of birds chattering high up in the surrounding trees. William squeezed my shoulder gently then stood to extend an arm, indicating it was time to leave. Although reluctant to leave the slice of Heaven on earth, I took his hand and allowed him to lead me on the well worn path home.
