My eyes redirect to the ground where my map, schedule, and useless papers lay scattered across the floor. I quickly pick up my thing but the curly dark brown mop beats me to most of it. I stand up and finally get a look at the person. Wow, those are some green eyes. They look even more green next to his tannish skin and almost black hair. His hair obviously has a mind of it's own because the curls are scattered in all directions.

He gives me a kind but shy smile. I return it with my own. I open my mouth to apologize but before I can utter a word someone beats me to it.

"Alex! You coming?"

I look down the hall to see a girl who has a striking resemblance to the boy in front of me.

"Yeah, coming!"

As he jogs down the hall to the girl, who is obviously in a hurry, he yells back to me a quick sorry and disappears behind a corner.

I sigh. I hope I get to see that boy again. There is something about him. I smile as I find my way to the eagles clubhouse. Before I can find it, I hear an announcement through the intercom.

"All student please find there way to the outside stage and take a seat. Eagles to the right, Ravens to the left. Thank you for your attention. If you have any questions, ask the nearest adult."

And I do just that. I ask some janitor for directions and he gives them to me in a rather rude and impatient tone. I just wanted to stick me tongue out at him and say, "Well ok then" in a really sassy tone. But I don't. Manners have always been important in my family.

By the time I find my way to the outdoor assembly, most of the seats are filled. I eventually find an open seat close to the back.

"For over 2 decades our school has nurtured this nations leaders; politicians, high tec ontopronures, athletes, and astronounts."

A round of applause takes place. He goes on with his leadership speech that I've hear from my mom a million times. I end up zoning out and focusing on the beautiful greenery that surrounds me.

"....so please, give a warm welcome to our incoming class."

It takes me a minute to realize that me.

After the assembly I walk around. I'm not the most social person so I can't find it in me to go up to someone and start of conversation.

I hear a, "Hey" coming from behind me but I assume they are talking to someone else. I guess I was wrong. A tap on my should turns me around to meet a weirdly familiar pair of green eyes.

"Hey...I um-I just wanted to apologize, for you know..bumping into you earlier. I wasn't looking were I was going and today has been very stressful-which of course is no excuse because you've had a stressful day to. I mean you went through all the stuff I did a-and I was really hoping you would get excepted. Oh my god I sound like a creep. Not in that way I-I just wanted you to get excepted so I could apologize. And now I'm rambling and you think I'm a creep. Wow your off to a great start Alex. And now I am talking to myself. Ugh I'm really sorry."

I find myself blushing in surprise. His rambling was actually kinda cute and I let out a giggle when he finished. He smiled shyly at me.

"It's ok. It was just as much my fault as your. My name Grace, Grace Kanderwall."

"Alex Woods. It's nice to meet you, offically I mean."

I smile at him. Our conversation is interrupted once again.

"Hey kid, you coming to the after party at the clubhouse tonight?"

Alex looks back at his sister for approval. She nods and he looks back at Daniel. Damn he has a nice jawline.
