Her shaky hands reach out for the envelope in her brother's hand. To say she was nervous was an understatement. This is one of the most important letters of her life. Slowly she opens up the envelope and starts to read.
"Lucas, I did it. I got in." Bentley lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding in.
"You got in?" Lucas asked standing up from her bed.
"Yup. You are looking at a member of Vanderbilt's class of 1991."
"Oh my god, congratulations Bennie." He said as he picked her his little sister spinning her around.

"You're seriously going to Columbia?" Bentley asked putting Lucas' bedding into a box.
"Bennie, I got a scholarship. I have to go." Lucas looked up to his sister seeing the tears in her eyes. Sure they had two other siblings, but Bentley and Lucas have always been super close.
"I know, it's just you're going to be in another state. I mean we've never been that far from each other. Plus, it's in New York so it probably smells like pee."
"Hey, Bentley we can call every week and you can fly up on some weekends. We can make it work." Bentley walks over and wraps her arms around Lucas and he rests his chin on her head.
"What am I going to do without my big brother?" Bentley doesn't look up at him but Lucas can tell that she is starting to cry.
"I am always going to be your big brother no matter where I live."
"I know."

"They are not my frat brothers. They're my friends, and their family is out of town. So I invited them." He says setting his bags down next to his bed as Bentley jumps on it.
"Did you ask mom and dad first?" Their parents hate surprises. She knows from experience if you bring someone to dinner you check with mom or dad first.
"Of course I'm not stupid."
"That's debatable." Bentley bursts out laughing thinking about some of the stupid crap her brother has done in his 20 years.
"Shut up they're coming. Be nice." He threw a pillow at Bennie getting her to be quite.
She watches as two guys walk into the bedroom. They look at her confused as to who she was. Bentley leans over to behind Lucas and whispered in his ear.
"You didn't tell me they were hot." She was met with a smack on her head.
"I'm Derek Shepherd." One of the two guys spoke up.
"Bentley but most people call me Bennie." She said putting her hand out to shake.
"So, you're the sister that Lucas never shuts about." She looks over at the other guy who had just spoken. "I'm Mark." Bentley just smiles at him.
"So I'm assuming y'all both go to Columbia?"
"Yeah, we're actually from New York," Derek responds.
"Oh, well that's something I guess," Bennie replied scrunching up her nose.
"What? You got something against New York?" Mark asked sounding playfully offended.
"I'm just not a big fan of big cities."
"Bentley Lorreta get your butt in here we were supposed to leave 30 minutes ago." A voice yells from the kitchen.
"Coming momma," Bentley yells back. "Well I gotta go with her to the grocery store, so I'll see y'all tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Mark questions.
"Momma likes to talk," Lucas said giving Bentley a quick hug.
"It was nice to meet y'all." She said waving before walking out of the room.
