Friends don't:
Artist: Maddie and Tae
For @sidsadie Thanks for being such a nice friend!"Hey Kirst, wait up!" Scott called, running to catch up to his best friend. Kirstie wasn't an overly fast walker; she just had had a decent sized head start. She turned around, chuckling at the big oaf that she calls her Scott. He was her Scott and she was his Kirstie. It was platonic, of course, they were just children after all, but it was still hella cute.
"Scottie, c'mon, the Disney store closes in an hour. An HOUR! I won't have time to look at everything if you don't get your noodle bottom over here." she whined, making Scott roll his eyes. Her and her Disney. She loved Disney probably as much as he liked Pokemon. Two happy, little nerds. Other people in the shopping centre turned to look at the two teens, a small and a tall, polar opposites, just having fun.
"Okay Kirst, let's go then." Scott smiled, slipping his hand into Kirstie's, admiring her ring. Her Mum had gotten it for her to give them luck for their Sing Off audition next week. Whatever came of it, which was probably nothing as they had nothing prepared and hadn't even met the other members, Kirstie knew that it would all be okay. She had her good luck charms, her ring and her Scottie, and even if this all flopped, she would still have those things. She would still have late night shopping trips with Scott, last minute road trips, and long standing meet-ups. She was supposed to be doing some work for college, having a rule of not cancelling other plans to hang out with friends, but she would, for Scott.

"Kirstie, what are you doing? Ugh, what time is it?" Scott asked, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He couldn't see his room, but the Single Ladies blaring from his phone had woken him up. Squinting at his phone screen, he could see that it was super early in the morning, about ten past two. There was a little giggle down the other end of the phone, so melodic, so happy. Kirstie was always happy with Scott, day or night.
"I'm ringing you, doofus. I have something to say." she said, losing the teasing tone. Scott sat upright, his body tingling. What could be so important to say that she would ring him in the middle of the night?
"I-Is everything okay?" he asked, half terrified, half excited, his body sparking with electric energy. He was already prepared to run to his car, speed to her house, as he is good at speeding, and hold her in his arms as she sobs. Kirstie was going through the most awful break up with her ex fiancé, Jeremy, and was struggling with adjusting to being alone again.
"Hi."
"Hi. Wait, hi? As is hello. Haven't we already done that bit. Are you drunk?" Scott asked, grabbing his keys.
"No I'm not drunk, and you didn't say hi." Kirsrie said, giggling again.
"Oh ok. So what do you need hun?" Scott asked, deciding to be gentler than before, just in case she wasn't as okay as she was pretending to be.
"Hello."
"Hello?"
"I just wanted to say hello."
"Okay. Well hello. Do you want me to come over?" Scott asked.
"No thanks. I'm good. Have a good night Scottie Buckets." Kirstie said. Scott smiled at that. She was always so caring, even when she was the one with a broken heart. Friends don't call you in the middle of the night, just to say hi. But Kirstie was something else, something special.

"Hey Kirst, I think Scott needs a bit of help." Mitch said, hurrying across the dance floor to the sober girl. She decided not to drink that night, not wanting to say anything stupid with her hectic thought at the moment. Especially not with the current company.
