Jason's POV

"Could you keep quiet for a moment, Piper?" Jason snapped.

And that had been the beginning of their not-so-gradual fallout.

Piper's animated talking came to a stop at once. She pursed her lips and looked at him with eyes full of concern. "Jason, what's up? You haven't been yourself lately."

"Maybe I have been myself. Maybe you just don't know the real me." Jason said quite angrily, rubbing his hands over his temples, trying to make it stop throbbing. He stopped when he realized that rubbing wasn't helping.

"Jace." She sat beside him on the couch and straightened his glasses. "We've been married for a year. Something's up, I know that. Just tell me-"

"Us! We are the problem. This relationship is the problem. I've been having migraines for the past few weeks, have you even noticed? All you ever talk about how much fun you had with your friends and your family when you went to the mall the other day or when you were at work! Do you even think about me?" He shouted at her in his frustration. The headache wasn't exactly helping matters, either.

"Well, if you hate our relationship so much, why don't you just file a divorce?" Piper blurted out, before she could stop herself.

"Maybe I will." Was Jason's cold reply.

***

Jason sighed as he leaned with his back against the punch table at the far end of the hall, a cup half full of punch in his hand. It had been almost a year since that conversation and roughly nine months since their divorce.

He watched Leo and Calypso making out in the corner opposite to him of the assembly hall that they were using for their high school reunion.

10 years, thought Jason. 10 years since I've seen all my friends together in one place.

They had all sort of... drifted apart after high school, though he did meet up with Percy and Leo from time to time. Even so, they just weren't as close as they had been before.

A girl with glossy black hair made her way through the crowd to stand next to him by the punch table. She started up a normal conversation, as though it hadn't been a decade since they had last talked.

"Hey, Grace. Noticed that you were standing all alone here. What's up?"

Reyna.

"Not much." He said.

"Where's Piper? I heard you two got married." And there it was.

"I'm guessing you haven't head about our divorce then?" He replied with a small smile. She paused and looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"Hard to believe. You two were the 'perfect couple' stereotype. Jason Grace, jock, captain of the football team and Piper Mclean, hottest girl in our year, definition of the term 'cool girl', always trying to get someone or the other together because she has nothing better to do than mess with other people's love lives." Reyna said with a huff. He heard some kind of bitter under taste to her words.

"We just didn't understand each other anymore." He said, shrugging.

The old, nostalgic songs blaring from the speakers filled the silence between the two.

"You look... nice." Jason concluded after studying her for quite a long period of time.

"You look quite handsome yourself, Grace." She said, chuckling. Jason also let out a chuckle and turned away, trying to hide the blush creeping up his neck.

Suddenly, as he watched the beautiful girl in front of him with her onyx eyes, tan cocoa skin, black heels and elegant purple gown hanging just above her ankles, he remembered the brief fights he and Piper had had during the initial stage of their relationship. He hadn't thought about it for a long time. The topic of the argument had been the girl standing in front of him right now. Let's just say that, in the end, he managed to convince Piper that he and Reyna were only friends and that he would never cheat on Piper.

He never broke that promise but they weren't really together anymore which led him to wonder... No. He tried to shake away all thoughts of cornering Reyna, pinning her up against a wall, pressing his lips firmly against hers-

"Jason." He snapped his head up to meet familiar sea green eyes.

"Percy, hey! So nice to see you here..." He was distracted, completely lost in his thoughts of making out with the dark haired girl beside him.

"And hello to you too, Jason." Said Annabeth from behind Percy whose eyes flickered to Reyna. "Hey, Reyna."

Annabeth's eyes were alight with surprise as she wrapped the younger girl in hug.

"Fashionably late, I see." Reyna said as they pulled away, smirking slightly.

Annabeth opened her mouth to say something when a another song started playing.

"Ooh! I love this song. Shall we?" Percy said to his wife, offering an arm.

"Sorry, we'll catch up later, 'kay?" Annabeth said to Reyna. She took Percy's hand and they joined the dancing crowd.

Jason thought for a moment and hesitantly held out his hand to Reyna. Her obsidian eyes pierced into his soul. After a few seconds (or centuries, he couldn't tell), she took his hand and they made their way into the midst of the dancing bodies.

It wasn't long before a slow song started playing. Jason placed his hands around Reyna's waist and she placed hers on his shoulders.

Jason felt his heart pounding against his rib cage, the close proximity rekindling old feelings. He forced them down and put a lock in them. He was not going to ruin the moment. For all he knew, she probably even had a boyfriend.

Reyna shifted closer to him as they moved and he felt her breath against his cheek. Her hands wrapped around his neck. There was little space between their bodies.

Fuck this, he thought and he pressed his lips against hers gently. He pulled away to see Reyna with her eyes wide and cheeks flushed. She dragged him away from the other people, back to the punch table.

"What are you playing at?" She whisper-shouted.

"Um... I'm sorry." He started. "I shouldn't have-"

His words were cut off by Reyna, grabbing his face and pulling him into another kiss. She placed her hands on his chest as he deepened the kiss.

Jason pushed her back against the table, making the glasses rattle. He wrapped his hands around her back and pulled them even closer. There wasn't even space for air pass between them. They pulled away, gasping for breath.

He didn't understand. Did she like him or not?

Reyna leaned closer to his ear and whispered, "You don't get to play with my emotions this way, Grace. You don't get to flaunt your relationship with Piper in my face and come up to me like this one day after you divorced her."

He heard the pain in her voice like the stab of an ice dagger

"Then, why'd you just kiss me?" He spoke into her ear.

Jason pulled away a bit to look her in the eye, sky blue into obsidian black, demanding an answer for his question.

"'Cause I'm in love with you." Reyna said in a soft voice. She looked him squarely in the eye, silently daring him to step away. But he didn't step away. No, he did much better than that.

He cupped a hand around her face and said, "I love you too, Reyna." He pecked her cheek. "I always have."

And they spent the rest of their time making up for the time they lost in high school.
