Katey walked down the colorful street. Every house Katey passed by a memory played in her head. The last house had the worst memory, but Katey decided not to think about it. That house was her house. The wind blew her hair up and down and her blue eyes seemed to sparkled in the sun. She just came back from another regular day at school. Nothing exciting had happened in 5 months. She usually spoke to herself. She didn't have any friends. Her only friend was her sister which some people thought was weird.
"If only I had a game to play." says Katey.
Katey never seemed to have fun unless she was with her 6 year old sister, Megan who made anything boring fun. Her favorite game was baby hide and seek. Megan created it when she was a little 3 year old and made the cutest baby noises when hiding. The thought of that made Katey smile. Many people wondered why Katey and Megan got along so well. It was probably because they only had each other while their mom worked most of the day and night.
"I wish she was here right now by my side." Katey said to herself.
Katey then realized that maybe she didn't have fun because she needed to do everything and because of that she could never really have fun. All she had to do all day was to watch on her sister and do her boring math homework. She could understand that she had to work hard because she was 13, and her mom was usually busy working, but she just really wanted something amazing to happen in her life.
"Mom, I'm home." Katey said as she opened the door.
"I'll be down in a minute." her mom replied.
Katey walked inside the house. The plain white walls were filled with pictures of her and her family. One was of Katey with her sisters and her brother. She really missed her brother and sister. Last year Daniel and Naomi disappeared and nobody could find them. Soon the police decided that they were dead. Daniel and Naomi were twins and Katey missed them a lot. She missed their jokes and their silly plays. They were so much fun even if they were 15 they always made time for her and Megan.
She walked over to the black couch, and sat down with Megan. Megan's brown hair was very soft and silky, and her blue eyes had hints of silver. Katey always wondered why her eyes had silver in them. Their mom said that she was a special girl. Megan was watching her favorite video called Lucas the Spider.
The video was cute but very annoying sometimes. It was about a spider named Lucas who wanted to be a musician and had fun adventures. Megan paused the video.
"How was school?" Megan asked.
"Alright, I guess." Katey replied.
Then their mom all of a sudden appeared. She had her work clothes on. She worked at a hospital. Katey already guessed what her mom was going to say before she said it
"Katey you're in charge. I've got a whole list of patients that need to be helped now. I'll be back around 11:00 p.m." mom quickly said.
"But," Katey replied.
Before Katey could finish her answer her mom already left. The words her mom said made Katey sad, mad, and worried. Katey always worried when she had to watch on Megan
What was Katey going to do? She couldn't be a babysitter to her sister. She did do it a lot but this time could be worse. Last time she got grounded because she let Megan go play with her friends. What if she was bored and hated her for maybe not playing with her? Everytime she watched her something bad would happen.
"CALM DOWN!" Megan screamed.
Katey realized that she was not saying everything in her head about failing Megan and mom in her head she was saying it to Megan. The worst part was Megan heard it in her stupid monolog. Why did this always have to happen when she was around Megan?
"Sorry! I thought I was saying everything in my head." Katey said nicely, hoping that she wouldn't cry.
But Katey knew that she did say it in her head. Or was she actually saying it out loud?
Megan then replied,"I'm sorry I screamed at you."
Megan started crying.
"Please stop crying. It's alright. We'll just play your favorite game hide and seek or something like that."
Megan quickly got up and hid when she mentioned hide and seek, while Katey started counting to 20.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ..." CRASH! Katey heard the noise from the basement so she ran down stairs hoping that Megan wasn't down there. When she was in the basement Katey heard a weird sound.
"Megan, where are you and are you alright?" says Katey.
"I'm over here!" Megan yelled.
Katey ran to a pile of boxes and Megan was there staring at a weird glowing mirror.
The mirror was a foot taller than Katey and was purple. It was glowing as bright as the sun. It looked beautiful but Katey had a really uncomfortable feeling.
"Why do we have a mirror down here?" Megan asked.
Katey had never seen the mirror before. Katey thought that it just came with the house when they bought it 6 months ago.
"I'm not really sure, but I think it came with the house. Let's just leave. I have a really bad feeling about this mirror." Katey said.
Just then the mirror made the weird noise again. The mirror got brighter. Katey started to freak out and she was about to grab Megan but then Katey felt something pulling her. She looked at Megan and Megan was getting pulled too.
"HOLD ON!" Katey screamed.
It was too late both Katey and Megan were somehow sucked into the mirror.
