On the very first day, the participants acted like normal. They would talk, socialize, and even sing! However, they started to complain about terrible stomachaches and headaches. The scientists, fearing for the participants' safety, allowed them to drink one small cup of water each. But, not only would the water not help, it would actually make their stomach pains much worse. At the end of the first day, the participants had already started hallucinating and banging their fists on the hard, concrete floors. The scientists, now agitated with the participants, put them on stinking sleeping gas. Immediately, the participants dropped to the floors and started a deep slumber.
