(A/N: You KNOW I had to start with my boys)
Kirishima's POV:
I've been waiting all year for the Soulmate Dance. I know it's only my first year, but I'm seriously hoping to find my soulmate. I'm pretty hopeful that I'll be able to, because I already have an idea of who it could be.
It's crazy how close the dance is getting- there's only a week left until the faithful night. I'm mostly prepared, I've got a tux picked out, I've made plans with Sero, Kami, Ashi, and Baku for after the dance (although Baku says he's not gonna go to the dance at all, but little does he know, I'm gonna force him), I'm pretty much completely set. The only thing I haven't done is ask out the person I want to ask to the dance.
On Monday night, with only a few days left until the dance, I'm hanging out with Baku in my dorm after working on some homework with him. As we're sitting there, him on the floor leaning against my bed and me on the bed, I decide to ask him, "So, Baku, who're you gonna ask to the Soulmate Dance?"
He groans and says, "Kiri, I already told you, I'm not going to that dumb dance. So no one."
I laugh and position myself so that my head is hanging over the side of the bed. "Yeah, right. You know I'm gonna make you go, so you might as well just agree," I tell him.
He groans again and leans his head back on the bed. "Seriously, Kirishima?" he says, exasperated. I nod happily. With an angry sigh, he mumbles, "Fine. But I'm not happy about it."
I jump into a sitting position and clap. "Great! So, we need to pick you out a tux, get you a date, figure out what we're gonna do with this hair of yours..." I start.
He doesn't let me finish. "Woah, woah, woah, I agreed to go, I never said I was gonna get a date."
"Oh come on, Baku! That's part of the fun! It's literally the whole point of this dance, to help us find our soulmates," I say, throwing my hands up and letting them fall back onto the bed dramatically.
He looks at me, a slight smirk on his face. "Alright then, who are you gonna ask, shitty hair?" he says sarcastically.
Blushing, I look away from him. "Uh, I don't know yet," I mumble, mainly to myself. I haven't actually told anybody who I plan on asking yet, and I'm a little embarrassed to do so.
He scoffs. "You don't know yet, my ass," he mocks, "Just fucking tell me, Kirishima."
With a sigh, I say, "Ugh, fine. You can't make fun of me, alright?"
He smirks at me. "No promises."
"Well, uh.. I was gonna ask Ashi..." I say, embarrassed.
He stares at me, eyes wide. "Damn, didn't expect that," he mutters after a few seconds.
"Really?" I ask, "I thought it was kinda obvious I like her."
He looks away from me. "Yeah, well, it wasn't," he says, rather angrily.
I decide to ignore his mood change, since he's always angry at something, but it confuses me why that set him off. Still, I continue on and say, "I've had a crush on her since middle school. I really think she's my soulmate."
Still not meeting my eye, he pushes himself up and mutters, "Good for you."
Not able to ignore it now, I ask him, "Why are you so annoyed all of the sudden?"
Turning to face me, he shoves his hands in his pockets and shrugs. "Just tired of all of the soulmate shit, is all," he says half-heartedly. I can tell that's not the real reason, but I decide not to push it.
