Jieun wasn't at her usual spot this morning.
I showed up at my regular time, peering out of the window, confused to see nobody leaning against the school wall reading, or sketching.
Though she wasn't there, I still stayed at my desk silently, peering at all of the kids walking by with their friends, and wandering around the school campus lazily, probably waiting until the very last minute to return inside.
I was so zoned out between the midst of the small percentage of people outside, I didnt notice the girl that walked in quietly, and stood across from me.
"Hello? Jungkook?" I heard, snapping my neck away from the glass, and looking up lazily at the girl who found herself in front of me.
"Jiyi?" I asked. What was she doing here?
"Uh- I..." she mumbled. I looked up her confused, as she stammered over her words, clearly intimidated my solid gaze.
"Can I help you?" I asked, sounding a tiny but rough. I should just tell her to leave. But Jieun, didnt she tell me... it doesn't matter. She isn't here, so why would it matter what I say? But before I could decide, she spoke first.
"Well, because I joined the school year late, and I dont understand the literature problem, I came in early to see if Mr Shin was in the building, so I could ask him about the problems he gave us yesterday." Ah yes, drunken Mr Shin giving me hell last night as I stayed up until 2 am to finish only his class of work.
"Well... I dont know if I'll be able to help you" I returned, nicely as possible, Jieuns face in mind.
"That's fine, but can you take a look? It's just... you're the only one here. I'll be quick I promise" she proposed. I sighed. Jieun would help her.
"Ok. Let me see it" I said breathing out, surprising myself with my willingness to help her, even though the emotion on my face stayed unchanged.
She smiled and pulled out her notebook. I read the question that was left blank, and had a cute little red start on the number. I turned to my bag, and pulled out my literature notebook as well, hoping to just give her the answer so she'll be on her way.
I tried my best to explain half heartily, but it was clear her focus was elsewhere, between her constant gazes into my eyes, and staged nods.
She places little "ohh ok I see" and "Hmm ok"'s here and there, so I moved on without paying too much attention to it.
People started to stroll into the classroom, giving small gazes at me and Jiyi, acknowledging our presence in the class. The way she stared at me, and inched her way closer to the desk as more people came in was becoming more obvious, but I didn't mind. It felt different to help someone. As much as I had no idea if she was listening or not, maybe Jieun was right.
She kept asking questions, which honestly weren't bad questions at all, but I felt myself growing impatient, and tired of helping her, and so close to just telling her to leave.
At some point Jimin also came in, sitting next to me, looking like he was getting ready to say something, so I slapped him from under the desk. At last, she said her thanks, and happily bounced back to her desk, where her friends were all surrounding her, asking things, then looking back at me.
Lord. Do these girls have nothing better to do in their lives? I rolled my eyes. Jimin turned to me, and wiggled his eyebrows knowingly.
"So-" He started.
"Not a word." I said, silencing him. I also felt eyes on me from behind, indicating Taehyung was probably watching as well.
"Well, it's just so unlike you to help people. It was a weird sight first thing in the morning" Well isnt he an angel.
"What do you mean. I'm a nice person" He chuckled obnoxiously.
"Right." was all he could say after. "and why her? You refuse to even help me"
"Jieun told me to be nicer. Or something"
"Of course. Everything reverts back to Jieun." He said, clicking his tongue, attention snapping to the board as Mr Shin walked in. The livelihood of the classes dimmed down as he read the page of announcements in his hands.
"Think he's hungover again?" Jimin asked in a hushed tone. I shrugged. All the girls around Jiyi scurried back to their own desks, unhappy with the presence of our teacher.
"Hello class"

Ms Nam made sure to keep the lesson short in honor to outlying questions people had about the subject, because of the test that was coming up. She made sure to make it clear to Mingyi, who would be tutoring me once again on Friday, to focus solely on the linear equation for the slopes, as that was sure to drag my marks down to the dirt.
After a painfully long class with almost nothing happening, we were all finally released from the hectic class, and freed to lunch.
Jimin automatically wrapped his slender yet built arm around my shoulder making me slightly shrink in height.
"that lesson was painful" Taehyung said sighing heavily from beside us. Jimins eyes cresented as he let out a breathy chuckle.
"Some lesson! That was hardly what I'd call a class" He said, lowering his hand to my shoulder, as if to silently trying to get my attention.
I looked around, to see Jieun, across the hallway, her glasses lying low on her nose. She was clutching a handful of books, and her hair was tied in a rather low messy bun, cute strands of hair laying out. I felt myself growing hot, my thoughts becoming warm and fuzzy, unable to keep my mind off her. It was only then I realized it's been a long time since we actually talked. Thank the lord for my baggy pants the school uniform required.
But the uniform couldn't hide the growing blush creeping up my face. And Jimin made sure to notice, letting out an obvious push to my forearm.
But Jieun was staring back. Only for a second, but enough for me to sense it. I could feel her quickly turn away, and attempt to stumble off, bumping into those behind her, and cutely apologizing. No! Not cute! I-
"Uh Jungkook? Lunch?" Taehyung said, waving a bit under my nose. I blinked a bit.
"Er, yea right, I'll be there in a bit, I have to go to the bathroom" I stuttered, trying to turn my front away from my friends.
"Oh ok, hurry" Tae said, latching on to Jimin. Jimin smirked, well knowing how I act when I- no. I turned to leave, taking note of Jimin making a clear glance to my lower body, so I know to yell at him later.
I chose the furthest stall, trying to get rid of her beautiful image from my head with little luck. Shit.

"You ok Kook?" Yoongi asked, putting a chip in his mouth from beside me at the cafeteria table.
"Shes not there" is all I could respond with, trying my absolute best not to sound sulky and whiny.
"Ah I see. Well, uh good luck with that" he tried. He isnt the most comforting person, but he could always tell when something was off. His silent yet ominous presence made sure to observe every detail.
"So Jungkook, what do you think of Sungis comeback? Sexy right?" Hoseok ushered, wiggling his eyebrows knowingly.
When will the day be over. I've been waiting so long to see her face.
