Monday morning meant early back at school. I woke up late, shoving everything hurriedly into my bag, and eating my small toast breakfast on the way to school, today, walking with Jimin.
We arrived on time, somehow.
"How can you do this everyday?" I asked Jimin, knowing how he wakes up around the same time as I leave our house. He laughs.
"Well how does it feel to not see Jieun in the morning?" He asked, as we turned into the gates of the school. But our conversation was (luckily) cut off by Taehyung, who had just ran up to catch up to us, pushing us both from behind, causing me and Jimin to stumble forwards.
"Morning guys!" He shouted, while wrapping an arm around Jimin, and the other around me, while squeezing between us.
"You know there are better ways to greet someone in the morning then giving them cardiac arrest right?" Jimin wheezed, holding his heart half-jokingly.
"Someone is happy this morning" I informed, noticing Taehyungs unusual upbeat manner.
"Well, today, is the last day of my after school group study! Oh jesus, that thing is dreadful. And I'm finally going to be done!" He exclaimed, speaking fast, while pushing us through the doors. He released our shoulders once we got to the stairwells, where kids flooded the area, circling in all directions.
Taehyung is at least lucky his studying is done for now. While mine is extending, and continuously going on. And yet, I still don't understand why I need tutoring for my perfectly fine marks. I mean, I'm not failing yet, but I guess my marks aren't exactly getting into a good school level either.
But like, I'm in grade 10, how bad do they need to be?
We continued our route to our class in silence, mostly because we were unable to talk to each other due to the people roaming the halls.
Surprisingly, through the whole rush of people, we still weren't the last ones in our class.
Mr Shin walked into the class exactly on time, and everyone swiftly stood up.
"Good morning" we all chanted in unison.
"Yes, yes, ok sit down, good morning" He looked super tired. He threw his stuff over his chair, which landed softly, but everyone could probably tell he was out of it today.
"Who ran over his cat this morning?" Jimin asked me in a low tone, tapping his fingertips on the desk at the same time.
"Some announcements," he said, getting ready to give us the daily school news "the next family meet up is this weekend, uh and anyone part of the socials committee, meeting lunch today room 3-B. That's it" He folded up the announcement page, and threw it to the garbage, where it fell down the side, not making in the actual trash.
The only time I hate when there isnt roll call on the weekends in our dorms is during family meet up. Every other day of the week, we have to be in our rooms by 8, but weekends are always the exception. They don't really care what you do during that weekend, as long as you didnt die by Monday. Of course, anyone stupid enough to have a party or anything would be expelled. And just because there was no roll call, doesn't mean there were still teachers and janitors roaming the halls.
Me and Jimin always dreaded family day anyways. My dad was most likely going to bring his new wife again, and my mom was probably not going to show up anyways. It's not that they don't love me, it's just it would be nice if they considered taking a break from their work to come visit their only son.
But at least our relationship isn't as bad as Jimin. His parents, who highly disapprove of me and Tae might I mention, have pretty high standards, that Jimin can somehow never surpass. But lucky Taehyung always had the kindest parents in the world, so me and Jimin kind of stick around them when it comes to being either at our house or his.
But whatever. I was kind of wondering what Jieuns parents would be like. Maybe I'll get to see them if I sneak around. Will she tell them about me? If they're anything like Jimins parents, there goes our relationship.
"Wait Mr Shin, what time does the family meet open? Because my-" Chanmin started.
"Uh, any questions you have should go to the office. They didn't give me details" Mr Shin said quickly, sitting at his desk opening his laptop. We all stared at him for a second. He looked up. "Oh, um please bring last nights homework up to the front of the class please"
"But I thought we were taking it up as a class-"
"Eunha, please. Yes, come on guys, no in a neat pile please. Yes, like that. Jimin, on the pile." We all made our awkward shuffle to the front, putting our homework down. Going closer to him, you could see the dark bags under his eyes, and the smell of staleness, or was it cardboard?
Lingering lightly around him.We all got back to our seats, waiting silently for instructions.
"Work on pages 4-17 of the literature package I gave you last week."
"But Mr Shin! 13 pages? We haven't even started-"
"Anything you dont finish is today's homework, so you should start now."
"How do you even answer question 39 though?"
"This is to work on your teamwork. Ask a friend. Keep your voices to a minimum. Now go" He turned back to his laptop, taking a long swig from his coffee mug.
People started to chatter gently, making sure not to get loud, because everyone was kind of terrified of Mr Shin right now.
"How much do you want to bet he is hungover" Jimin whispered to me and Taehyung. "He probably had a Sunday party. What do you think?"
"I bet he got rowdy with Ms Tanaka. The Japanese teacher from the after school program study thing. They are always taking, and I'm like 99% sure I see them leave together most days" Tae added, fiddling with a pencil, making sure to pretend he was working.
"Really? I think he was just clubbing. He seems like the kind of guy to do that. And what is he, like 30?" I said.
"He wouldn't go clubbing if he was with Ms Tanaka though" Taehyung contradicted.
"Unless they went clubbing together!" Jimin said, a little too loudly, but Mr Shin looked so absorbed and dead, I don't think he noticed.
"Is he... sleeping?" I asked.
"No. His eyes are open" Jimin answered.
"Maybe he is still drunk" Tae said.
"No. That's illegal or something I'm sure." Jimin whispered back.
"He is probably just tired. Maybe Ms Tanaka dumped him. I dunno" I said turning back around. And that is what we stuck with, trying to get as much done as possible.
My pocket, who is texting me right now though?
