Banana pancakes

itsuki's POV

after the two overgrown pups decided to make a mess of themselves in the back garden Riku and I headed into the garage, locking up the place behind us.

my father loved it in here, the smell of oil, working on his bikes and cars, showing off his handy work to his sons, it really brought a smile to his face. after he passed we were left with all of his old bikes and cars. I hadn't ridden any of them since that day, feeling uneasy about it all and instead I always opted for the jeep he had gotten me on my 18th birthday.

Riku headed straight for one of the bikes and I went to my jeep, size being a down fall when it comes to travelling. im not saying im fat, im just saying I could stand to loose a few pounds. trust me ive got plenty of muscle but as of late my love of food has gotten the better of me and my once very toned body has gotten a little too big for my liking.

I got in drivers side and honked at my younger brother, watching his face light up in realisation. he never was the brightest of us all but he eventually got in with me, giving me a sorry grin and a chuckle before I playfully punched his shoulder "idiot"

he buckled up and turned the radio on, already rambling about a random topic as I backed out of the garage and off our property. i had the windows rolled down since the sun as out, fleeting but still warm on your skin compared to the wind whipping past us and the draft entering the car as we sped through our area, watching as the houses slowly spread further and further apart until there were none in sight. just the sea of pine and oak trees trapping us on our route.

Riku had calmed his chattering slightly, mumbling along to the songs on the radio until he burst into another conversation about the smell of the trees. I sat and nodded, enjoying the noise keeping my thoughts occupied as the near empty road stretched ahead and into the trees.

the song changed yet again and Riku was still talking but as soon as the next song came up I tensed and I was taken back to another time...

< flashback >

I was sat in the jeep, the sun was blaring through the windscreen, windows rolled down and the radio on. it was summer time so I was in a tank top and my shorts, sunglasses shielding my eyes as I drove. I was leaning back and driving with one hand, a massive grin invaded hearing the angelic voice next to me

" Itsuki! its our song, listen to this little one " I glanced over at the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. her long blonde hair laid over shoulders in waves, her sun kissed skin lighting up with joy as her own smile came over her face, god I love that smile. she was sat in the seat next to me, leaning back in her white floral dress, her sunglasses hiding the most beautiful brown eyes that held so much joy and love in them. her hand were resting on her stomach, one bearing my engagement ring as the other rubbed her 7 month pregnant belly, calming the boisterous little one inside her. our first baby.

she had looked at me with such childlike glee at the song that my heart swelled and a small breathy laugh passed my parted lips. I could only glance at her momentarily due to driving but I was constantly stuck, mesmerized by her as she sang out softly to our song, face tilted towards our baby in her belly, rubbing in time with the song, an evergreen smile present and in that moment I was whole. my entire world was sat right next to me and I could just imagine all the things wed do in our future together.

I extended one hand over and placed it over her petit ones. my rough skin pressed against her smooth skin and she responded by placing her other hand over mine, moving my hand to feel the quick kicks of our baby

< end of flashback >

the song slowly drifted away as it ended, I was dragged back to where I was. the colour seemed washed out and all I could see was the never ending road in front of me. I was numb and broken. all I could feel where the slow and dripping tears cascade down my face while Riku kept talking.

" I-Itsuki? are you alright?" at the mention of my name I rubbed away the tears and nodded, clearing my throat before speaking, putting a dull smile on for him.

" of course, something was in my eye is all " I turned and brightened my smile, giving a half hearted chuckle before turning to face the road again, hearing an audible sigh come from my younger brother, dropping the situation to save us both the pain.

I came across the familiar side dirt road and pulled over, parking with a sigh before looking over at my little brother, smiling to myself at how much he's grown before getting out, Riku soon following.

I locked up and walked out into the trees with my hand stuffed deep into my trouser pockets, Riku on my tail while sniffing the air, his previous one sided conversation about smells coming to mind " I wonder what they want this time " he spoke aloud, probably to himself but I answered anyway

" I don't really know but it must be decently big if they want us to come back out here " I straightened up once on familiar footing, my memory guiding us to our meeting place our parents had taken us so many times growing up. The familiar shrubbery growing thicker over the path due if it's lack of use but it still looked exactly the same

I sniffed the air and felt my tail lift when the slowly growing sound of others chatting became louder.

Y/N POV

We had been watching the boys favourite tv show, something about mutant superhero's or something for most of the night, Kaito and I watching as they all slowly started to fall asleep where they sat.

A small smile graced my lips at the sight of all the pups at peace, their tiny tails tucked around their small frames. I had Rui on my lap and I looked down to see him nestled in my arms, head on my chest and one hand holding my shirt. His ears had flopped over in his sleep and his breathing was calm, relaxing me.

Kaito was laying on the couch with the two other boys on his broad chest, nuzzling into their older brother happily. Hana was in her bed already because of her age but I knew Ren was awake.

I slowly stood, Rui still in my arms as I tried my hardest to keep him asleep. I held my breath and lifted him high to make it easier to hold him. He stirred a little in his sleep but didn't wake making me release my held breath before walking to his room, laying him down, tucking him in with his stuffed bear.

I grinned so wide when he immediately clinged to his teddy. I left quietly and stopped by the stairs, thinking for a moment before deciding the other boys were best left on the couch before walking upstairs.

I hummed softly to myself, walking past room after room before stopping outside Ren's room, the light still on and the sound of book pages turning indicating he was still up.

Without hesitation I walked into his room, closed the door behind myself and crawled into his bed and into his arms all without him even having to look at me.

' is everything alright y/n? ' he spoke through our link while I nestled into his side with a hum. I nodded and closed my eyes, feeling Ren keep a steady heart beat and his breathing calm.

I just stayed there with my brother, listening to his heart while he read his book into the early hours of the morning. He did eventually put the book down and held me close to himself, closing his eyes as he drifted into a peaceful sleep, myself joining him soon after
