The reason why we were 10 years earlier

Authers Note: I know I put these at the end but I thought I would give you a background on why the first chapter is called '10 years earlier' so this is note a chapter.. more like a description of some sort. Enjoy!

*Marinette's POV*

I was sleeping when I heard Tikki wake me up. She had an expression of humor on her face, as if she had a joke she had beendyingto tell! I simply asked her what was wrong and she pointed to my trap door. To my surprise my father was yelling as if something was on fire, "Marinette! Come down here now!" I was shocked when I heard these words because my father is a giant teddy bear! We call him 'Teddy Tom' for pete's sake! 

Out of fear I went downstairs and saw my mother making omelets for the family. But my father, who had a VERY stern look on his face, was sitting on the couch.

"Papa, what's up?" I asked him awaiting for the reason he summoned me down so gracefully.

"I know you are graduating in a week (did I forget to mention this is a week before graduation? oops) and you know that your mother and I are planning on retiring."

I stopped him right there with "Papa I told you I don't want to take over the bakery! I want to be a fashion designer and work for Mr. Agreste!" I tried to be as nice as I could without raising my voice but my father simply wouldn't listen. So I repeated myself with the same tone as before but shockingly still no answer came out of this giant mans mouth. My mother had to intervene and got my fathers attention so he could listen. I repeated myself for the last time since I had told him and my mother this story many times before. 

He finally listened but he didn't care. He returned at my response not looking too proud of me standing up for myself. "Well you are a Dupain-Cheng and this is the Dupain-Cheng bakery! You will either take over this bakery or you will find another roof to live under! This roof is my roof and the Dupain-Cheng roof! And this roof is above the bakery! This bakery is our life! We literally live off of this bakery! And if you don't take over this bakery like the last 5 generations then you do not belong in this family!"

My mom stood there in shock about what he had just said to me, his daughter, his only child! She was appauled by what she had just heard and decided to comfort me since my father had failed to do so. "Marinette...." 

Before I could listen to what my mother insisted on saying to me after my heart was broken and shattered several times, I ran up the stairs holding back my tears. I slammed my trap door shut  and dragged my lounge chair and chest on top of the door so nobody could enter.

"Marinette? What happened? Why do you look so sad?" Tikki was worried for me and didn't want me to get  akumatized since akuma's feed off of negative emotion. I didn't want to hear any of it and couldnt hold back anymore. I started balling my eyes out and when they dried, they were red and puffy. I was crying hysterically for about an hour and a half. I couldn't take anymore pain and decided to see Adrien.

"Tikki spots on!" I transformed and knocked on his window. He opened the window to let me in and was concerned for the girl in a red jumpsuit with matching red puffy eyes. 

"M-Marinette? Is everything ok?" he was genuinely concerned for her. "Is everything alright?" I didnt feel like speaking at all so I decided to just shake my head.

*Adrien's POV* 

Plagg was whining for cheese so I didn't have the patience for his complaining and went to get his some cheese. As I was about to leave my room I heard a tap on my window. It was ladybug! I was ecstatic to see her but she didn't feel the same. She had big red puffy eyes the matching color of her suit. 

"M-Marinette? Is everything ok?" I asked her trying to find the source of the problem. 'What was going on?' She didn't answer me so I asked again. "Is everything alright?" She didn't say anything except for a shake of her head. I knew something was bothering her. I sat her down on my couch and sat beside her. She de-transformed right before my eyes. It wasn't the first time we turned into our alter-egos or out of them in front of each other.  Before either of us could say anything she started breaking down in front of my eyes. I could tell this wasn't the first time today she had broke down but we were both at a loss for words. So I just pulled her into a hug and tightened my grip around her, making her feel safe and secure. I wouldn't let go until she gave me the signal that she was ready to talk. I looked at Tikki. And my looks said a thousand words including, Why was she like this? What happened? Who hurt her? Why wont she talk? Tikki didn't have the answer so like her owner she just shook her head. I could tell both of the ladybug's were exhausted and I motioned Tikki to the drawer where I kept cheese and fruits for Plagg. After she took a few grapes, she left to talk with Plagg.

Marinette (to my surprise) has fallen dead asleep in my arms. I picked her up bridal style and placed her on my bed. I then tucked her into the covers making sure she felt warm and safe. After Imade sure she was in a comfy sleeping position, I went over to the two kwami's to ask Tikki what had happened. 

All she told me was "I woke her up because her father was calling her down stairs with anger in his voice. She went down and 10 minutes later she came back up to her room and locked herself in the room by barricading her trap door! She just started crying for a whole hour and a half before she transformed to come to you! I was trying to calm her down because Akuma's feed off of negative emotions. Imagine if she were akumatized!"

"Thank you Tikki. I now know that it has something to do with her parents and thank you for trying to prevent an Akuma attack. I cant even imagine what I wold do if M'lady were akumatized! She would hand over her earrings as if it were nothing and I would have to fight her and get her earrings back so hawkmoth cant get that wish!"

I was frustrated. I decided to transform and I told Tikki to watch over Marinette while Cat Noir had a talk with her parents.

Hey guys! Sorry for such a long chapter but i had alot on my mind and had to let it out otherwise i would have forgot about it. But as I said before PLEASE stay safe with the virus spreading around more and more. Any ways im gunna go now. I will update VERY soon. Bye!!
