Felix stared out at the barren landscape before him. He was staring at the hideout where he and his mates used to stay. Back when he was merely a coyote. Before they discovered who he is. They were all dead now, all but him. It was his fault too, or so he thought. He visited this place often but never went inside. Instead he hid, ten or so feet away and he watched. Made of abandoned car parts, the cockpit of a small plane, and an old boxcar, it was merely a shell of its former glory. Hoping against all odds that one of them would wake up. Marzia, or Cry, Minx, or Jack. They were all gone now. All he had left were memories.
He heard a cry from a few miles away and jumped behind a large pile of abandoned tires. He peered over as the group got closer, dragging their feet and shouting commands. They were dragging a man, all tied up and not even trying to be gentle. He had dark hair and a scruffy beard.
'Ken Morrison?' He thought to himself.
What was the town's biggest celebrity doing in badlands? They dragged him to the abandoned hideout and propped him up against the side wall. They shouted and laughed like wild beasts as they crowded around a patch of dirt in which they tried to make a fire. Felix decided to wait them out, and see what they were up to.
After a few hours of countless bottles of whiskey and roasted meat of whatever kind, the bandits began to tire. Drunk and stuffed to the brim, they lay limply on the ground around the dying fire. Ken stirred and began to wake. Felix crept towards him as he began to open his eyes. Ken's eyes widened in fear as he saw Felix standing above him. He began to cry out before Felix quieted him with a hand over his mouth. He slowly removed his hand fromKen's mouth, and placed a finger over his own, signalling for him to be quiet, before pulling a small knife from his pocket. He began to cut the ropes binding Ken's arms and legs. When he was finished he helped Ken to his feet. The beckoned him back towards the pile of tires. They crept carefully, avoiding the drunken smelly men sprawled out on the ground.
Snap
Felix froze as he heard the sound. Ken looked beneath his feet and saw he had stepped on a pile of bones.
"Freeze!"
