After Steve had left I walked over to his table and washed it.When I turned to go back I noticed Steve's wallet on the counter. I slowly walk over to it and picked it up. I started to open it slowly then something fell out. I inspected the wallet before picking up the slip of paper it said "Steve:743-926-8394-". That's all it said so I decided to call the number I closed the store then walked to the back.
"Hello?" I heard Steve's voice say. I say hello. "I see you have found my wallet" his voice booms. "Yes I have" I answer not really knowing what to say. I would like to say that I could leave it somewhere for him to find it but I want to see him again I feel lost I don't know what to say. Stupidly I hang up. I sit down in one of the chairs I feel dizzy and embarrassed.
I woke up to a big bang. I had fallen a sleep on my chair. Steve was there outside the door knocking. I quickly get up and fix my hair the best I can and unlock the door. "Hello" I say timidly. "Hi" he replies. I think about his wallet I pull it out of my pocket and hand it to him whith out saying anything. "Thank you" Steve says putting in to his jacket pocket. "Are you closed already?" Steve asks me. "Well you were my only customer today so I thought I might as well close" I replied honestly."That makes sense" Steve says.
It is almost 6:00pm now and Steve is still here. We just talk and talk then suddenly Steve asks "would you like to come have supper with me?" "Yes I would love that" I reply trying not to sound too exited. Then I look down I realize that I am wearing my work apron and plain old running shoes.
Steve does not seem to care at all. I get up an finish cleaning everything up. I walk over to the door put my coat on and me and Steve walk out the door without a word. Walking side by side Steve starts to hold my hand I feel more relaxed now I feel safe.
