Leonardo Schneider. Her first love, the guy whom she loved deeply, the one whom she thought she's going to spend her whole life with, the one whom she'd risk everything for; In which it only took a few seconds to break her heart.
Ever since Chantelle moved to another state, they made a pinky promise that they would never forget each other and that despite having kept apart by distance, their hearts would always remain attached together.
Leonardo was close to her family. They'd dated for years. They'd known each other for so many years. The childhood memories. Their teenage memories. Their best memories filled with happiness were spent with each other. They were soulmates. Or at least that's what Chantelle thought.
If he hadn't broken her heart, they would've been married until this day. Hell, they'd probably even have kids by now. Nonetheless, one simple action could change everything; and leave a wound which would remain forever and never forgotten.
8 March 2016
"I know Leo would love this. He definitely would. I mean, come on! He would never reject a soufflé pancake. It's his absolute favorite. He could even finish it in five seconds!"
Chantelle said, tossing a pan of soufflé pancake in the air, making it jiggle as it landed back on the pan."How long did it take for you to learn to cook it?"
Charlie, her little brother asked."Took me quite a while, but it was definitely worth it!" A beautiful smile laced her lips, knowing full well that Leo would love it.
"Can I try it? It smells really good. And it definitely looks so delicious." Charlie said, stepping closer to the pan of soufflé pancake.
"Sure, I'll make another one for you."
"Yay!"
Later that day..
Chantelle was eager to give her homemade soufflé pancakes topped with pearl bobas to Leo. After all, she knew it was his favorite. What more could a guy ask for, aside from his fiancée's presence whom he hadn't seen in almost a year, bringing his favorite food along with her?
"Leo? Leo, where are you? I'm here..!" Chantelle stepped inside Leo's diminutive but cozy flat, and she was quite flummoxed by the mess in his flat. Leo's generally an organized person.
"Strange.." She thought.Brushing off the thought, Chantelle's focus was brought back to Leo's room. The door was left half open. There were voices leading to his room which drew her attention. Was someone there?
Assuming Leo was inside, Chantelle decided to give him a little surprise. She tiptoed slowly to his room, hardly managing to suppress her smile. She couldn't wait to see Leo's reaction. Oh, how much she'd loved him and how she'd longed for his presence.
The next thing which arose in her line of sight made her eyes widen in surprise. Another woman was in his arms, his hands were on her waist, they were wildly kissing each other so passionately as he threw her into his bed, proceeded to kiss her madly, so deeply whilst simultaneously feeling as though her heart was being stabbed deeply by the guy whom she'd loved with all her heart, whom she'd placed her trust in, whom she thought would never hurt her, break her, or betray her. It was like her worst nightmare was happening in front of her. It was something she never imagined would ever happen. It was something she never thought would ever occur to her. And all she could do was put her hand over her mouth to hold back the tears which were fighting to come out, whilst her hands were trembling. The love she'd brought for him, partly in the form soufflé pancakes, fell to the ground, the pearl bobas spilling, which sinisterly had a resemblance to how she'd felt her heart had dropped to the ground, spilling and melting because of how hurt her heart had been right at the sight before her. She couldn't believe it, she couldn't take in the sight in front of her. It was all just a nightmare. It was only a nightmare.
Unless it was a nightmare which came true.
All the memories flooded in her mind and she was fueled with anger. She was enraged, seeing how her loved one had betrayed her with another woman who was no other than her own best friend of seven years, and it was not only had her relationship been broken, her friendship as well.
When the two were aware of Chantelle's presence, their eyes widened with surprise as Chantelle shook her head in utter disbelief and shock. She was filled with anguish, consternation and exasperation at the same time. Words could not describe her feeling at the time. It was all too abominable.
"Chantelle, baby! Wait! I can explain!"
Chantelle kept running as far as her legs could bring her. He could explain? Bullshit. As if he could explain after everything she'd seen. She was deeply hurt, she could feel it in her chest. She made it to her house, in which she left her brother befuddled.
Slumping down in her sofa, she clutched her chest, trying her best to relinquish the pain.
"Are you okay..?" Charlie approached Chantelle whose tears were streaming down her face, and gave her a hug. He kissed her forehead and rubbed her shoulders.
"Don't be sad, sis. I don't like seeing you sad."Chantelle gave her 7-year-old brother a hug, a tight one, which she'd never wanted to let go of, a comfortable feeling, the hug similar to the one Leo used to give her. But she knew she would never experience the same feeling.
She wanted to forget all about it.
But she knew it wouldn't be easy.
Because she knew that even though he'd hurt her,
Part of her still loved him.
