When the good guys turn their back on you, you turn to the only side left, the dark side. Those people treat you as a person, at least. You can overlook your morals just for some place to feel at home. If the rock can't hide you, the devil can.
Carter Duqué knew what it was like to be at a constant war with yourself. His morals fighting against the need to feel loved. Sure, he felt lonely with so many people around, but it was so much better than feeling lonely when you were alone.
Then, Han Solo crashed into his life. Literally crashed, like right into his speeder.
And life wasn't so bad anymore.

— I had Carter in his own scavenging group comprised of four other people. I would love if you kept that, but it's entirely up to you. It doesn't matter their names or faceclaims.
— Carter was based off of the Starkid song Eyes on the Prize II where it says "Don't let them call your bluff" so he's very closed off and tries to hide his emotions.
— Carter is a transient from planet to planet, he doesn't even know where he was legally born.
— His parents died when he was right after trying to steal a blaster from an unidentified and off-duty General.
