The apartment was charming. At least, in the eyes of both its new occupants. It was a fully refurbished two bedroom flat. A combination of Victorian charm with contemporary living. The other things that helped add to its idiosyncratic nature, was the exposed brick-wall fireplaces, knotty pine wood floors throughout the house, as well as its landscaped garden. Though, the two prefer to keep themselves hidden indoors. Or at least, one of two did.
That one of two, Ezekiel, preferred that if they were to be together, it be somewhere indoors.
Ezekiel hummed a small tune to himself as he pulled the keys from his pocket, shifting the bags in his arms to one side as he did so. He glanced around as he pushed the keys into the lock.
No one seemed to be around. Most importantly, no one seemed to have followed him.
As he finally unlocked the door and entered the flat, he gave one last glance backwards to reassure himself that he hadn't been followed."Kabiel?" he called out into the flat as he placed the keys onto their small entry-foyer table.
There was silence for a moment and Ezekiel's grip on the bags in his arms tightened. Finally, a voice responded."Still here from when you left me thirty minutes ago."
"Ah. Yes."
Ezekiel rolled his eyes and walked into their kitchen. He made sure to mind his head, especially his antlers, as he did every time when making his way into the kitchen. It was an odd setup to say the least. It was almost as if the whole layout was a right angle. Though, if you stood facing the kitchen, the triangle would have been flipped, as the oddly slanted and shortened ceiling was on the right side. Once he got into it, he set his bag of baked goods down onto the counter.
"Tea?" he asked, loud enough for his companion to hear.
"Do you even need to ask?"
Ezekiel chuckled softly. He wondered why he even bothered to ask when he knew the two of them, especially for breakfast, preferred tea. Still, he figured it was polite to ask nonetheless.
The cupboard that held all their teas was swiftly opened, its contents scanned only once before Ezekiel grabbed what was left of their Yunnan. He moved quickly as he set the kettle on the stove and measured out the fresh, leaf tea. It was just the right amount.'Perfect.' he thought to himself.
While the water warmed up in the kettle, Ezekiel moved his attention back to the bag of baked goods. With great care, he reached in and pulled out all the contents. Scones, Cinnamon Rolls, Danishes, the whole typical works of what they liked to munch on during their breakfasts here.
Today, he decided, would be a day to use one of Kabiel's favorite tea sets; as he seemed to be in a good mood. The Grace Tea ware was, to Ezekiel, not all that. A crisp white porcelain with lemon design and gold trim. It was...simple. Even the small butterflies scattered about on each piece, of this 11 piece set, seemed too simple to really bring any attention. Could there be a less vibrant shade of purple, blue, and orange? The jackalope scoffed to himself. Still...as he continued to stare at the cup and saucers, he understood why Kabiel enjoyed this particular tea set. Even though it had no bright, flashy design or colors, it was still appealing to the eyes. Kabiel enjoyed simplicity and it really was no surprise that this tea set was perfect for the Doberman.'Or perhaps it's because his favorite color is yellow?'
Ezekiel was interrupted from his thoughts as the kettle let out its shriek. It was quickly muffled by an oven mitt and then completely came to cease once its source of heat was taken away.
A tray was grabbed from atop the fridge and Ezekiel placed everything onto it: cups, saucers, tea pot, and one plate that held two scones each. The rest of the baked goods would be for later.
