Jax's POV
I've been looking everywhere for Ari all week. I feel like she's avoiding me. I thought that we were okay after talking at Emma's house. We almost kissed at homecoming.
It had been almost a week since homecoming and there is still no sight of Ari. I need to find her, I have to talk to her.
I bet that Mason has something to do with this. He was all over her at the dance and seemed really mad when I danced with her.
I hear voices around the corner and listen very closely. It sounds like Ari and Emma. I wait until Emma leaves to confront Ari.
"Ari!" I exclaim. Ari turns around and then walks briskly in the other direction. I sprint after her, catching up to her quickly. I pull her into the janitor's closet.
"What the heck?" Ari snaps. Why does she have to be so cute when she's angry?
"You're avoiding me. Why?" I give her a pouty lip.
"Jax, it's not healthy for either of us. We're just not meant to be together." She sighs. Did you just hear that snapping noise? Yep, that was my heart breaking.
"We're not meant to be?" I ask.
"Jax, this isn't easy for me either. But, we need to stop holding onto the past. What we had was good, but it would've never lasted. Why can't you see that?" Ari asks.
"Good? That's all it was, good? It was great. It was even perfect. I would give anything to turn back time to when you felt the same way about me as I do towards you now. My feeling haven't gone away. Have yours?" I'm hoping for her to say no. I really want her to say no.
"Jax, I care about you. But, I've moved on. I have Mason now, and you have Andi-"
"Hold on, he's the reason why you're avoiding me, isn't he?" I feel anger boil inside of me.
"He asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes but he asked me to promise to not speak to you ever again. I'm sorry." Ari says and I watch a single tear stream down her face. I cup her cheek with my hand and put my lips on hers. She kisses me back for a little bit, but then pulls away.
"I can't." She whispers.
"You can't? Or he won't let you?" I say angrily. I march out of the closet and go to the lunchroom. I spot Mason at one of the tables and walk over to him.
My fist comes in contact with his jaw as I watch him fall to the floor. He looks at me in surprise and anger as he stands up and punches me back. We both start punching each other over and over again.
Ari keeps on screaming at both of us to stop, but I won't. I hate this guy for stealing Ari from me. I hate him so much. Mason punches me in the eye just as my fist comes in contact with his nose. I hear a snapping noise, signaling that I just broke his nose.
"STOP!!!" Ari screams. We both actually listen and stop trying to kill each other.
"Mason, are you okay?" She rushes over to his side and tries to stop his nose from bleeding.
"Are you kidding me, Jax? What the heck?" She yells and kicks me in the shin. It didn't hurt my leg, but it hurt my heart.
"Mr.Novoa and Mr.Murphy, you're both coming with me to the principal's office. Now." Mr.Alonso says sternly. Great, just great.
