"Min Yoongi.""Yoongi."
"MIN YOONGI."
The merman heard his mother from the other side of the door as she was telling his name. He was hiding, but his mom finding him soon after.
'Why would he be hiding?' you may wonder. Well it's simple really. The poor merman was scared, he was scared to be the new king. A ruler for a while kingdom. All the merman wanted was freedom, he wanted to roam around the sea, knowing what's out there. What is he missing out on? He must be missing out on a lot of things, as this whole time, he spent his life mostly in the castle.
"Yoongi darling, I know your scared. But open up the door. Please?" Yoongi heard his mother as he finally had no other choice as his mother wouldn't leave until he opened the door. "Yes mother?" The pale man looking at his mother. "It's Coronation day, you should be happy. But I get how you feel. Taking care of a whole kingdom can be scary. But listen, whatever happens I'll be by your side to help you out. Okay?"
Yoongi nodded, letting out a small smile. His mother always knew how to calm him down when soemthing big was happening. But this, this was a huge step for Yoongi. He now has to rule a whole kingdom, protect the kingdom as he is being newly crowned king today. 'Today was the day' Yoongi finally thought.
"Today is the day I finally become king."
______
Afternoon rolled around, Yoongi was getting ready for his coronation. He was getting his hair ready by the mermaids in the room, while another was putting small little crystals on his face just to make it shine as he was being crowned. Yoongi didn't really like the crystals but he eventually liked them. Though he still thought about one thing.
Freedom.
As he said he wanted to swim around. Not be trapped in a castle until his time is up. Sure he was kind of excited to be crowned king, but he wasn't ready to spend even more time in the castle. He wondered what it was like to be the other people. What's it like to play with the sea life, or talking to other merpeople. He was thinking deep into his thoughts, before a familiar voice snapped him out of his thought.
"Yoongi! Look what I brought!" Jimin stormed in the room, as he startled the mermaids who were styling him up for his coronation. "Or am I interrupting something?" Jimin shyly chuckled as his face slowly turned red. "Ladies you should give me a minute with Jimin, thanks for your help." The mermaids smiled and they nodded going out the room one by one and the last one closing the door.
"So what did you have to show me?" Yoongi smiled as he finally was done from dealing with the hair pulling. "A seahorse! Look how cute it is! It matches your hair color." Yoongi looked at the small seahorse as he admired its features the creature had. Yoongi never saw any sea life before, so this was entirely new to him as the other merpeople have seen seahorses countless times.
"Aw it's really cute! Wow, it's just-" Yoongi was at a loss of words, he felt kind of embarrassed that he would be fascinated by just a seahorse. "It's okay, I'll let you have him. He was one of my pets, and it just reminded me of you with your hair color. So I thought, 'let's give this to my good ol' bestie'" Yoongi smiled as how Jimin snuck in a small little creature in the castle. Which lead to Yoongi wonder, "Jimin, how did you get in the castle?"
Jimin has a evil smirk on his face, "I may have taken one of your guards down." Yoongi's eyes widen as he was about to say something before Jimin interrupted him. "Only kidding, your mom let me in. She was really nice, and she told the guards I was your only friend." Yoongi glared at Jimin as Jimin took that as a sign to watch his own words. "Sorry, but it's true isn't it. Hey maybe after your coronation, maybe we could do something fun together." Yoongi took his attention to the small seahorse swimming around the room, as he was listening to Jimin, "Go on."
Jimin took a pause as he thought of what they could do. As he suddenly thought of an idea, "Maybe we could go to the shore. It's fun over there."
Yoongi took his attention away from the seahorse, now looking at Jimin. "The shore?! Are you crazy?! Won't we get caught if we go there?!" "You want freedom don't you? I'll help you sneak out." The merman took a long pause as he was thinking about if he should go, a little longer later, finally making up his mind.
"Fine. Let's go tonight."
______
"Hoseok!"
Hoseok flinched as he heard his boss behind him as he was giving a kid a treat without paying. "What has gotten into you that your giving out free treats?!" Hoseok remained silent as his boss was annoyed at how he was always giving out free treats to the children who come by. "You think we're going to make any money if you keep on giving out these pathetic kids free treats?!"
"They're not pathetic! And I'm paying for them! Don't be saying nasty things about the kids!" Hoseok finally snapped as Jin was looking from the other side of the small shop. "Get out." His boss immediately stated. "But-" Hoseok was cut off by his boss. "I SAID GET OUT AND THINK ANOUT WHAT YOUR DOING."
And with that Hoseok stormed out the shop as he walked around the village trying to calm his temper down. "Seokjin, cover for Hoseok. Can you believe it, he's giving these kids free treats." Jin was irritated with his boss, as he did this all the time. He has had enough with the boss for today, "Well if you kicked Hoseok out for today, then I might as well leave too!" His boss went right after Jin as he was getting worried, "Who's going to bake the treats!?" Jin turned around sassily as he put his hands on his hips, "Well I guess your going to have to find another baker to come in for today and cover the rest of my shift. Goodbye! I'll see you tomorrow!" And with that Jin turned around looking for Hoseok, knowing well that he's going to be yelled at tomorrow, but he didn't care, he cared about Hoseok being happy at the moment.
"Hoseok!" Jin frantically called out Hoseok's names countless times. He searched and searched the whole village trying to see where he was at. Then remembering the only other place he could be at. Jin started making his way around the village to get to the shoreside. Once arriving, Jin saw the beautiful sea, how the sunlight was reflecting on the sea. The beautiful colors, the calming sound of waves, the fresh breeze. The sun was almost setting, it was truly a amazing sight. And there he saw Hoseok, close to the shore where the sea meets the sand. Hoseok had his pants rolled up, as his feet were in the sea. "Hoseok there you are."
"Jin! Y-you didn't have to come looking for me. I was fine all alone, I just needed to calm myself down. Wait, aren't you suppose to be working?" Jin chuckled as he replied with "Well I stormed out on the boss too, knowing well I'm going to get scolded tomorrow. But who cares right." Hoseok smiled, he liked how Jins personality was so carefree. If only he was like that. "It's a lovely view isn't it. Now I understand why you love coming here." He immediately smiled at Jin when he mentioned the view, it really is lovely. "Someday I want to bring my destined partner here, so they can see what I see. I'm sure they're just as beautiful as the view right here." "Ah I see now, bring the Mrs. along eh?" Hoseok pauses as he mentioned 'Mrs.', "Well it could be a man, you never know, but I don't care what they are, as long as we both love each other and share this view together. I will love them no matter what." Jin smiled at the sweet statement, Hoseok was determined that when he gets his red string tied around his finger, he would go out immediately to find them, see who that other special person is.
It was getting late as the two had seen the sun set, the moon now rising. They said their goodbyes as they headed off in different directions. Hoseok arriving home safely, while underwater, the newly crowned king was sleeping. As he was sleeping,
A red string appeared on his ring finger.
