“Uh…”
“Ash…”
“Ash…”
“Ash!”
“Oww!” I sat up quickly, with a hand on my stinging cheek. I looked around wildly. I was in a huge forest…except it was daytime, the plants looked…unearthly and I had no idea where I was. Turning I saw what looked like a weeping willow that was curled into a circle and it was a deep blue. ‘Where the hell am I?’
I heard some shuffling noises behind me, I stood quickly and turned around.
“Rina!?”
Rina was in front of me. Her outfit had some minor scratches and random smears of dirt. Her eyes were wide and her were breathing slowly relaxed as she saw me.
“Ash! I was so worried for you! Are you ok?”
I froze. “Am I ok? Am I OK?!”
Rina looked nervous and took a step from me. She held up her hands in a calming gesture. “Now Ash just calm down…”
I glared at her. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I was worried sick about your ass when you, out of nowhere, run into the middle of a fucking forest, then you go ape shit over something that sent us both into the middle of wherever we are!”
Rina winced. “I’m sorry, but I had to…”
“Had to what? Where the hell are we? And why were you so damn eager to come here, wherever we are?!”
Another wince. “I don’t know,” She held up her hands in a way to make me shut up. I stood up straighter, crossed my arms, and clenched my teeth. “When the light came…I-I had this weird feeling. Like I needed to go somewhere. B-but the closer I got, the stronger the urge became. I-I wa-wasn’t thinking straight, it was like my body was on autopilot.”
I shifted my weight on one leg and raised an eyebrow. “Do you know where we are?” She shook her head.
I sighed, I placed my thumb and index finger on my nose and rubbed it. ‘Great’.
Hearing a sniffle, I looked down at Rina, she was tearing up and sniffling.
Letting out a deep breath, I looked at the crying Rina. ‘Well, she seems to have her reasoning back. But… How did she know about that portal, door, whatever it was? It was as though the stupid light made her like that. As though it awoken a memory… No, not memory, it was like an insanely strong instinct. But why is it instinctual in the first place?’
All of a sudden, I heard a loud noise of a branch breaking. I turned and went pale.
“Shit!”

“Jurdanus! You cannot believe that this could be real, could you? This is just stuff of legends! Stories parents tell their children!” A young knight ignored the calls of his friend and continued forward. Golden eyes narrowed in determination and turned and glared at the fellow knight.
“Shut up, Droyn. This could be our chance to help save Pacatusia. Whether or not its true, we should still try.”
Droyn shook his white hair and rolled sharp purple eyes. “Whatever, just don’t act shocked if it doesn’t work. Besides, the kingdoms don’t even believe in this myth anymore.”
Jurdanus turned abruptly. “That doesn’t mean we should just give up and let the possibility of our hope disappear. I mean the Princess…”
“Probably died, but the royal family said she is ‘with the Seven of Humanity and she will lead them to Aludia and create peace’, just to scare other countries into submission. Which didn’t really work…”.
