Amethyst was sitting on her mattress, that was so thin she was able to feel the metal bed frame through it. She hated her bed, her bedroom and the whole castle that surronded her. Her life was horrible, at least for her it was. To most people they believed she was a princess who had wonderful parents. But they were wrong.
The poor princess lived in the dungeon of the castle, and longed for the day she would be able to leave the hideous basement of the castle. She had been outside of the dungeon whenever there were parties or events that she had to attend. Otherwise, she was locked in there, even for tutoring lessons. It was absoluetly horrible.
"Amethyst, get up your teacher will be here any minute. Get dressed." Her mother scolded.
She got up off her bed, and went to her draw to pull out a dress that was suitable for her to wear. Then, Amethyst went into the small bathroom connected to her room and swiftly got dressed.
"I'm ready."
"It will do." Queen Lydia then turned on her heels and went back up the stairs to the main room of the castle.
Princess Amethyst sighed for she felt that her life was a neverending pattern of her parents dislike towards her. She never understood what she had done to her parents, for them to be so disenchanted by her.
There was a soft knock on the door to the basement, and Amethyst approached the door opening it.
"Hello Princess," greeted Amethyst's tutor, Ms Elena.
"Hi, Ms Elena."
The two of them sat down at the desk situated in the corner of the room and went through the subjects necessary for Amethyst to learn.
"That's all for today. I will see you tomorrow." announced Ms Elena.
"Bye, Ms Elena."
"Goodbye Princess."
Once Amethyst was done with her lessons for the day she felt famished. She wasn't able to leave her room so she just had to hope that one of the staff of the castle would bring her food soon. She hated the thought that even the staff of the kingdom were treated better than her, by her very own parents.
After wating for a long whole hour, a maid came in to deliver the Princess bread and soup. Although it wasn't a lot of food, Amethyst was used to this amount and she was grateful to have any food at all.
The day carried on, and Amethyst spent the rest of the day reviewing the lessons she had, and reading from her few selections of books. That night, Amethyst went to bed in plan of waking up during the night to escape outside. She had tried this many times before with no hope, but she had finally found a way to actually get outside.
It was the time of 2am and the Princess had woken up to put her plan into action. She promised herself that tonight she would leave this castle. Not permanetly though, she wanted to but she had to wait to leave the castle at least once before, so she knew where to go.
Princess Amethyst climbed onto the top of her dresser and reached out with her arms to the trap door that was on the ceiling of her room. She stumbled, and almost fell to the ground; however she gained her balance and was able to reach the handle. With a few pulls the door opened and a ladder came flying down.
The Princess couldn't be happier that things had gone to plan so far, and climbed up the ladder in excitment and pure joy. When she was at the top, she peered around to make sure there was no one around and once she was certain, she ran to the front doors.
She tried to pull the door open, however to her luck the door was locked. She snuck into the kitchen to see if she could find a key, and was disappointed. Amethyst then went into the main room and looked through all the draws and cabinets until she found a big key that she knew could open any door in the castle.
Going back to the front door, she opened it up and pulled open the huge wooden door. Closing the door back up and shoving the key into the pockect of her nightwear, she ran outisde into the night's fresh air. She felt that she could finally breathe, it was like paradise.
The Princess walked around the estate admiring all of the trees and flowers that surounded it. When she reached the back of the castle, there was a beautiful lake that looked so fresh and clean. She just wished that she could come out into the night's fresh air whenever she pleased.
"Hello." A voice spoke, startling Amethyst and making her jump and turn around.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." The stranger chuckled.
"Who are you?" She asked shyly.
The man extended his hand out to the young lady and introduced himself.
"I am Christopher Knight."
Amethyst shook her hand with this strange man, and backed away from him in fear of him being a stranger.
"Don't be afraid, I come here sometimes to look at this view. It distarcts me from my worries. What are you doing here?"
She looks at this man shocked that he comes to her castle to view the lake.
"I live here."
"Oh my, I am so sorry Princess." he apologises.
She giggles at this man for being so courteous towards her.
"Don't worry, I don't mind."
"What makes you come out here at this time?"
"Well, I never come outside." she admits.
"How come?" he questions.
"I've never been allowed."
