As Tony had said, the pastries Steve made for him, coated in thick, sweet syrup and creamy butter, were likely the best things Loki had tasted in his entire, long life. And he had forgotten how much he enjoyed sweets after forgoing them so long in the dungeons on Asgard and while with the Chitauri.
But now?
Loki wanted to never eat anything else again. The meal was made even better when a grinning Steve placed a steaming mug in front of him and Tony explained what the hot, sweet liquid was. Loki drank the first cup easily, eagerly downing another waffle while Steve filled the mug with more hot chocolate. He supposed he was being served like this because of his all-to-recent episode this morning, but Loki failed to care as he ate more than everything he's eaten in the dungeons of Asgard the past few months.
And he suddenly found himself very thankful his body did not react to food after starvation like a mortal's would.
Finally, Loki finished, leaning tiredly against his laughing Anthony.
"Jesus Christ, Loki. I knew his waffles were good, but I didn't think you would react like that." Loki chuckled at his remark, kissing his cheek before turning to Steve.
"Thank you, Steve Rogers, for your kind treatment and delicious food. I am ever grateful," He murmured respectfully, but Steve shrugged awkwardly. "It was no big deal Loki. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Maybe you can convince Tony to come out and eat real food more often," He laughed, and Tony snorted.
"Uh, hamburgers and take-out are real food. But if Loki wants to eat with you, I'm all for it."
Humming contentedly, Loki turned to Tony.
"Dearest, I hate to ruin your good mood, but do we not have a meeting with Fury today?"
Tony groaned.
Steve froze.
"We? Why do you both have a meeting with Fury today?" He asked, and Loki snickered. "A few threats were made and I decided it would be in our best interest to go freely, rather than let them break more windows than I did and drag us all out of here due to my inhabitance," Loki answered simply and Steve nodded.
"When will you guys be going? Did he give you a time?"
Glancing at Tony, Loki shrugged. "I guess pretty soon, or else Pirate Captain Fury is going to have a shit-fit and come traipsing into my tower." Tony made a face and Loki chuckled, albeit uneasily. "How shall we leave? I do not think simply walking out will do." Loki stated dryly.
Tony's brow furrows in thought. "No, it won't. Not with you being a world renowned super villain and all." He said sarcastically, and Loki smiled. He rather liked the sound of that.
"Loki, are you going to be okay going to that meeting? After what's been happening to you?" Steve asked, worry lacing his voice. Loki blinked in surprise; he was referring to the recent episodes he had been having. Damn. He had held a small shred hope that the others had forgotten already, or at least would pretend to.
Waving his hand through the air, Loki dipped his head. "Yes, I shall be fine. What is the worst that could happen?"
-
Apparently, one of the worst thing that could happen was Tony and Loki kissing in front of the Director, in response to his order that they discontinue any further relationship between each other and lock Loki up or send him back to Asgard. Now they were sitting on the ground in one of SHIELD's cells, two agents standing guard outside.
"You know, Loki, that might not have been the best idea," Tony grinned, turning to face Loki.
Loki laughed loudly, lacing his fingers through Tony's. "I suppose not. But I am sure Steve will be here soon enough, or we'll be stuck here for quite a while." His eyes sparkled at the prospect, and Tony rubbed the top of the hand that he held with his thumb.
