Sarah's pov
I sat there on my porch keeping my eyes fixed on the road, shivering like a maniac as it was pouring ruthlessly but I didn't care I couldn't stand being inside for another minute it suffocated me, outside atleast I could take a breather, I inhaled the fresh air that smelled of wet grass and dirt

I narrowed my eyes barely being able to see the reflection of the street lights on the road even then it was pitch black. I placed my hands on my forehead trying to rid myself of this stupid headache, why is my life so annoying sometimes? Can it not go a day without making me miserable in some way?

These thoughts kept roaming my head making me angrier when I heard footsteps approaching me from ahead. Curiosity took over and I tilted my head to see a figure of a women coming my way, I squinted my eyes a bit more to see clearer that women was wearing a raincoat with two plastic cups that looked like they had a lid and a straw in them.

She sat down next to me and began to say, "I hate seeing you like this." I immediately recognised the voice to be my next door neighbor patricia but we called her patty. "What's bothering you this time..?" She asked with exasperation

I could feel tears forming in my eyes but I also felt angry "Nothing, you should go back" I whispered with a harsh tone making it clear I wanted to be alone

Disregarding my rude answer she pushed the cup she was holding onto my lap.

Confused I asked "whats this?" Since I really wasn't in the mood to drink anything. She pushed the cup into my hands that suddenly felt cold to its touch.

"Drink it, it's a banana smoothie" she said sounding more like a demand than a request "I'd made extra for you, I know you love it" she said after a pause sounding tempting

She wasnt wrong her smoothies were the only good thing in this world. Ever since she moved in next door she always offered me her hospitality and I was grateful ofcourse but sometimes I just needed some space a moment where no one was smothering me when I came outside to breath for a bit

She kept her eyes on me expecting me to drink it, reluctantly I took a sip "Thank you" I mumbled.

"Anytime boo" patty replied with genuine concern in her voice

We sat there in silence, she didn't press me to tell her anything she understood I wasn't in the mood to remind myself of it. So she sat there making her presence peaceful for me

I finally broke the silance, "she did it again" I said looking straight ahead. "She can't go a day without making me feel worthless" I said as my voice almost cracked as I remembered all the times my sister made rude comments without a second thought without even realising her words hurt.

"Oh honey, its okay you know you will always have me. You don't have to overthink the things she says, its all to feed her passion of making other people miserable" she said pulling me into her arms for a side hug

Patty was a tall brunette with an average body but comforting nonetheless. She was finishing her final semester of college renting the upstairs of the house next door because her green national university was just 20 mins away, she was also about to turn 23

It made me sad I didn't want her to leave I liked having a neighbor I could trust someone who had my back like a sister I always wanted.

She was slowly caressing my hair as my head lay on her shoulder, I was quietly sipping my smoothie from that starbucks cup patty collected everytime she got them a person who recycles is truly the best kind of person.

She let go of me when we finally finished our smoothies taking in the chilly night weather, "I have to wake up early for college" she stated before asking me "are you gonna be okay?"

Snapping out of my trance I replied "me?.. yeah no I'll be okay I was gonna head inside anyway".

She stood up and I copied her and she gave me one last tight hug before saying goodbye and running through the rain into her driveway.

I exhaled one last time taking in the cold atmosphere before heading back inside, as soon as I reached my room I turned off the lamp and jumped onto my cozy bed covering myself up with blankets and relaxed my muscles before almost immediately going to snoozewille.

I woke up feeling exhausted, listening to the birds sing, the rain must've stopped as I didn't hear any water splashing on my window

My house on the other hand sounded peaceful as if the people in it were still sound asleep I grabbed my phone and checked the time, it read 6:00 am, 'Amazing' I thought one more hour to sleep I put my phone back and snuggled back into my blankets.

It felt like not a minute passed and my alarm sounded I mentally groaned and checked to see it was 7:15 SHIT!

I got up as fast as I could and ran to the bathroom in the hallway after doing my business I got in the shower and shrieked to the touch of freezing ass water I got out and thought nevermind went to my room and picked an outfit that explained my mood

I put on a blue knitted sweater for the chilly weather, black high waisted jeans and black camo boots after fixing my face I rushed downstairs and saw my mom sitting at the table having breakfast

"Why didn't you wake me?!?" I burst out, she just shrugged "I thought you didn't feel like going today look at the weather"

My mom was in her forty's and kind of carefree although she'd pound me if I forgot to eat anything before I left for school

No one but her was awake this early my dad would be but he's gone to stay with my uncle since they had to talk about something serious and it was a long drive to castle town from freshman hill

I drank a mug of hot chocolate, said my goodbyes to my mother and left for school on my bike. Freshman high was only 3 blocks away from my house but I preferred riding my bike I hate walking

Here's another day of school my misery and my social life...
