The human mind works in wonderous ways. A simple thought can change someones day, for better or for worse. A small imbalance and everything is changed. More of a chemical and you find yourself falling head over heels for a person you barely know.
Kakyoin knew the facts and here he is, having to face them. He only knew her name, and her name is enough to make Kakyoin stay awake for hours, wondering how she'd feel in his arms, how joyous her laugh would be whenever he messed up or made a joke.
He was deep in love and he knew, he just didn't know how to forget it. It was all so foreign for him. The rapid heatbeats, the butterflies in his stomach whenever she waved or smiled at him, daydreaming of just how perfect she is. Jotaro has caught onto it too, and how perfect it is that he did. More to poke fun at with Kakyoin.
It's hilarious.
Kakyoin's face would go cherry red whenever Jotaro pointed her out, how he'd shush him whenever Jotaro cooed out her name to him during study time. Jotaro knew deep down that she was important to Kakyoin, so he steered out of her way. For her sake and his (he knew he'd yell at her at some point for annoying him).

It was no different for Y/n. Yes, her friends used this as an advantage to get closer to Jotaro somehow, they even suggested Jotaro being the perfect match for her, but she had eyes for one person. A red head in particular.
She notices his glances, the small gestures, everything. From the way he doodles on his notes, to the sparkle in his lavendar eyes whenever she passed by him.
This feeling was no foreigner to her, oh no. She has fallen in love before, but it just simply wasn't meant to be. Their hearts were set on different people, different fates, different destinys, they just weren't made for eachother. They parted as friends, and solely friends.
But that doesn't matter now, her heart was set on a cherry boy.
The red string of fate was pulling them together everyday, but they were both too quiet to actually say anything about it. The two lovers knew in the back of their mind that one of them were bound to burst the bubble, but when would that be?
When the stars began to fall from the sky? When the tides are no more? When the flowers stop blooming every spring?
Of course not.
The bubble would be burst on prom day.

It came up fast, and both of them were asked out. As much as they wanted to, both were too nice to decline.
Dragging his feet, Kakyoin went to get ready. He stood in the shower, staring blankly at the wall. How could he have let it happen? He had a whole plan to ask her out and it backfired. He sighed, continuing his shower.
How stupid of him for thinking it would work out. He was too different from her, he doesn't know if she has a stand, she's never(hopefully) been nearly killed by a vampire. Their lives were too different.
"But.." Maybe that's what made her beautiful. She lived a peaceful life, one without isolation, without these dark feelings of loneliness and sadness. Or has she?
He couldn't wrap his head around it. The possibilty of finding someone who understood what he felt, how he felt in the past. It was all so abstract.

Y/n stared at herself in the mirror, she was all set and ready to go. How? She was so ready to ask Kakyoin to the dance and yet..
"Good god." She chuckled, covering her face,"Ahh, this is bad. Bad, bad, bad." Her mon knocked on her door,
"Sweetie. Your date is here!" Y/n sighed,"Comingg." She dragged her feet across the carpeted floor.

Down the stairs, greet the date, snap a picture and off they went. Kakyoin thinking of Y/n, and Y/n thinking of Kakyoin. Oh how they longed to be together, driving to the prom, laughing and singing their lungs out.
But they weren't close enough for that, not yet at least.

The music boomed, and her date parked the car. He got out, not bothering to open the door for Y/n. Nice. She got out herself and trailed behind him. The two entered the building and she looked at him,"You uh..wanna check out the snack bar?"
He wasn't paying attention, he was checking his phone. She tapped his shoulder, "Uh..hel-"
"What? Oh, you can check that out, I'm gonna see if my friends got here yet." He mumbled, looking down and disappearing into the crowd. "O-h...okay..." Her hands dropped to her side.
"What a man. What..a man." She mumbled, pushing her way to the snack bar.

Kakyoin had arrived with his date, of course she was on her phone as well. He got out the car and opened the door for her. Without a thank you, she stepped out and walked into the building, not bothering to walk with him.
He frowned. No way in hell was he going to deal with this the entire time.
Kakyoin walked inside, and immediately began making way to the snack bar, and that's when he saw her, standing alone.

The lights brought out her features in ways he couldn't have imagined. How her eyes glistened with..sadness. Her lips tugged into a frown. As beautiful as she was, he couldn't stand seeing her like this. Had her date abandoned her?
What an asshat.
He mentally prepped himself as he slowly pushed through the crowd, the music fading. He can only hear his own heartbeat. It got faster when they locked eyes.

Mere feet apart, they stared at eachother, awestruck. In her eyes, he was as beautiful as the stars, as the moon and sky. And in his, she was as precious as the diamond, the still waters during nighttime.
He sucked in his breath, ready to speak.
"Hi." She said, shyly. He tilted his head,"Uh- What?" She giggled, "I said hi." He blinked,"Oh..OH! Hi, hey, uh..sup." Kakyoin cringed at himself. "Sup..uh..you..how are you?" She smiled. "I'm doing..alright. How about you?" She sighed,"Ah, I could be doing better.." He tilted his head, frowning a bit. "How come, if you don't mind me asking?" She rocked on her heels,"My date left me. Speaking of dates, where's yours? I don't take you as the type to leave your dates."
He knew it. Asshole of a date. "What a dick, and mine kept ignoring me. I'm not going to waste my night on someone who could care less about me." He shrugged. "Ah, smart, smart..you're very smart." She mumbled.
The awkward silence that isn't so silent filled the air. "It's..boring here, huh?" Kakyoin said, leaning on the table a bit. Y/n nodded in agreement. "Yeah, really boring. I thought this would turn out differently, but I guess not.." She shrugged. Kakyoin nodded in agreement, looking into the crowd,"Yeah, same here..how were you planning this night to go?" He glanced at her. "Well, for starters I was planning to come with..a special someone.." Her face flushed, "And..yknow..just..spend the night together."
Kakyoins heart tightened a bit,"Me too, I honestly wish I was quicker in asking her out.."
Y/n pursed her lips a bit and shuffled closer to him. He watched her do so. She looked at him, placing a hand on his bicep. "Spill. Who were you gonna ask out?" She grinned. Now it was his face to flush,"Didn't think you would be so eager to know!" He chuckled awkwardly, avoiding eye contact with her. "Well I mean- Is it one of my friends?" She gasped. "Or or-" "It's you."
She stopped, staring at him, bewildered. "What? Me?" Her heart rate quickened. As did his. "Yeah, I was planning to ask you out but I was too slow.." She looked into the crowd,"Well..Neither of us have dates.." Kakyoin nodded,"Would you like to be mine?" She looked at him, leaning her head on his arm,"Of course.." Kakyoin nodded,"I assume we should get to know eachother, yeah?" Y/n nodded,"We should. I can't wait to know more about you Kakyoin."
When his name rolled off her tongue, he knew she was the one. It wasn't so sharp, it was soft. Melodic almost. Oh how he loved her voice, it was nice to listen to.
"You as well, Y/n."
