Bella's POV
I was walking with Charlotte and Peter when we came across a man Peter knew. I could only guess it was the Major from what their stories has said about him. At first, I noticed the scars littered across his body, then the most amazing scent of the woods and ocean water mixed with leather came to me. Most people would think I am just an ordinary newborn, but I have 2 shields both mental and physical. I also can tell what a person is thinking and how their life was before I met them. Anyway back to the Major, he was staring at me and I thought I had something on my face. Then all of a sudden we hear some twigs snapping and a different scent headed straight towards us. I looked at Jasper to only realize his eyes go dark red to almost a black color.
Jasper's POV
When my Bella notices I was staring she had this look of curiosity sweep across her face, then I noticed twigs snapping and an all too familiar scent which could only be one person.... Maria. I knew I had to protect my mate and family, but I also know that I killed the bitch that made me go through the horrible stuff I did before Peter and Char came to get me. I could sense the Major and possible my demon rattling the cage to get free and end this torture once and for all. I didn't want my mate to see me that way And. Be scared of me or to run away. There was a huge decision to make before she could get to us.I reckon my Major side came out because Bella was staring at my eyes and I could see a dark tint come to view.
Authors note. I know this chapter isn't as good, but do note that it will all make sense later on.
