Chapter 2 - Sweet Smell of Artifitial People

"Lion King!!" Maddie yelled. I groaned inwardly. Maddie and Phil were killing it at Disney Scene-it.

"Alright go again." I sighed.

"Lilo and Stitch!" Phil and I said at the same time, which means we have to do a tie breaker.

The person with the shortest hair. Dammit.

"We win!" They yelled, jumping up and hugging each other. I put my head into Bryson's shoulder laughing as Maddie and Phil did what I think is a victory dance.

"Do you guys wanna play again or another game?" Bryson asked putting his arm around my shoulder. I snuggled into his shoulder and looked at Maddie and Phil.

"Let's just watch a movie and go to sleep, I'm really tired." Maddie suggested. We all nodded and grabbed some blankets, making a bed on there floor. We picked out a movie and began getting settled. We were sleeping Bryson, me, Maddie, and then Phil.

As the movie started playing, I fell asleep almost instantly, cuddled into Bryson's chest. I can't even remember what movie we were watching because I was so tired.

"Ave? Avery. Wake up!" I heard someone whisper yell at me. I opened my eyes and looked up a little, squinting, I saw Lee and Denny. I pulled my head up as much as I could considering Bryson's arm was restricting me from getting up any further. I saw Maddie and Phil cuddling on the couch.

"We're going to the park for a little bit. I just wanted to make sure you knew so that if you needed me you knew where I was."

"Okay." I yawned and threw my head back down into the pillow. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't. I sighed and carefully pulled Bryson's arm from my waist which he almost instantly pulled under his body.

I hastily stood and walked into the kitchen. Pulling a filter out, I slid it into the coffee maker and brewed some coffee. I threw my body onto the counter and sat, swinging my legs. I looked over my shoulder at Maddie and Phil who were still cuddling on the couch.

Maddie and her boyfriend, Charlie, also known as my guy best friend, broke up, again. They have a weird on and off relationship that just confuses everybody. One day they love each other and the next they're in an argument. Its so sad, they're so cute together.

I was thinking so hard that I didn't realize there was someone standing in front of me, taking some coffee.

"Hey, baby. What are you thinking so hard about?" Bryson asked, pecking me on the lips and handing me a mug. I sipped the coffee slowly and set the cup down next to me.

"Maddie and Charlie" I stated simply. He gave me a knowing look and shook his head.

"They're off today, they're on tomorrow, its how they are, you know that." I nodded but he wasn't convincing me of anything.

"How can they be happy in that kind of relationship? I don't get it, if they don't want to be together than why do they date?" Bryson moved in between my legs, pulling me towards him.

"Every couple is different. I think that they don't want to let each other go for real because they love each other so much." I sighed putting my head on his. I heard shuffling behind me and swiveled my body to see the living room.

Phil stood and covered Maddie in the blanket then turned on his heel and walked into the kitchen with Bryson and I.

"Hey guys" he yawned pulling a mug out of the cabinet. I waved, dropping my arm onto Bryson's head and playing with his gorgeous hair.

"Bryson?"

"Yeah babe?"

"Can I do your makeup?" I giggled.

"Absolutely not!" He laughed as my smile faltered. He kissied my cheek and walked over to the fridge. "I love you, but no." I grunted, jumping off the counter and walking into the living room. I grabbed the TV remote and sat in front of the couch, on the ground, because my best friend just had to take up the couch.

"What do you guys want to do for the last day, before school?" I queried, flipping through the channels.

"Go Karting!" Phil and Bryson said at the same time. My eyes went wide, shocked that they managed to do that.

"..okay. Go karting it is." I stated turning my attention back to the TV.

"Will you guys shut up? Trying to sleep here!" Maddie yelled, her voice groggy.

That sucks.

"No, get up. We're going go karting!" I said, excited.

"Nooo." She groaned.

"I'll buy you Starbucks." I suggested. Instantly she perked up, throwing the blanket off of her body and pulling herself into a sitting position. She got up slowly and walked to the stairs.

"Give me 20 minutes." She ordered. I smiled in return, finally giving all of my attention to my TV show, Teen Wolf is life. I seriously love Dylan O'Brien. I would marry him in a heartbeat.

Someone blocked the TV, and also my picture of Dylan, making me squeal.

"Uhh can you move?" I asked Phil. He shook his head no and continued staring at me.

"You need to get ready too, missy" he told me in a stern voice. I sighed and groaned at the same time before pausing the show, standing up, and walking up the stairs. "Good girl." I heard him say behind me.

As we pulled into the parking lot of the go karting area, we noticed that there were only 2 other cars.

More time for go karting, less time for waiting in line.

We walked into the arena and went to the booth where you rent cars. Bryson and I were in one car, which left Maddie and Phil to be in a car.

I don't know what's going on with them. I feel like they like each other but Maddie and Charlie are a whole other situation.

Picking out a green car, I got in the drivers seat, which Bryson was none to happy about. He slumped into the passenger seat and Phil and Maddie adjusted to their seating.

After a couple rounds, Bryson and I were winning 3 races to 1.

We decided to call it a day after another round.

As we pulled up to my house, I turned to Bryson.

"I'll pick you up tomorrow at 7?" Bryson asked.

"Yes, you will." I kissed him softly before taking my seatbelt off and opening the car door. I turned to Phil and Maddie.

"See you guys at school?" I asked.

"Yeah." They both sighed. I got out of the car and walked up to my front door, exhausted.

I walked into my bedroom and threw myself into my bed. Although it was only 7:30, I was tired and fell asleep right as my head hit the pillow.

That next morning, after showering and blow drying my hair, I pulled on some jean shorts and a hoodie. I grabbed my phone, books, and bag and walked out the door, seeing Bryson in the driveway.

"Hey gorgeous!" He smirked cause me to blush. We climbed into his car and began driving to school.

Pulling into the school parking lot, I jumped out and went up to Maddie, Phil, and a couple of our other friends, not even waiting for Bryson.

We began walking into the building and I stopped, causing Bryson to stop too, considering we were holding hands.

"Ahhh." I sniffed for a minute, "the sweet smell of artificial people." I giggled.

"Did you take that from a Brent Rivera vine?" Bryson chuckled.

"Maybe."
