"is that him?"
"no..."
"oh my god, it is him!"
"okay yes, but it's nothing, really"
"no it's not! you love him?"
"well... sort of"
"do you know he has a girlfriend?"
"i am aware, yes"
"what the fuck, mona?"
"that's exactly what i tell myself everyday. you know, it isn't like i asked for it to happen. it just... happened. but it's fine!" i rushed to add, seeing as he was about to drop another painful truth in my direction. "it's just a crush. it's going to go away, i promise"
at this point, i was just lying to myself. as i did with the previous 'it's just a crush' phase, that lasted nine long months. but love was such a strong word, and the commitment that comes along with it just didn't feel right. it was just a stupid crush, and i was glad because i was finally moving on.
