"You ready?" Audrey asked Melvin, throwing a glance over to him. They were backstage, getting ready to appear on live television.
"Born ready. You know, I never get enough credit for being the lead filmer for Fredo's movies. It's finally time for me to shine."
Audrey laughed. "I just hope Fredo doesn't make me seem stupid in the movie. Because I feel like that's what everyone is expecting."
"Nah. Plus, more than anything, you were really crazy as a kid. you still are. Remember that time you told me you thought I was an evil time traveler from 2500 coming back to start the fart-pocalypse?"
"It was a reasonable theory. Don't make me remind you about your basement neck twin."
Melvin shuddered. "Damn. Maria really knew how to get to me."
"Speaking of which, Zoe told me that the cheer squad is opening a dance school with Hubert's sponsorship."
Melvin's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? I didn't know. Maria and Hubert haven't said a thing."
"Huh. Well, yeah. Rosalia seemed eager to go." Audrey swatted away the makeup lady. "No thanks," she said. "I don't wear that stuff."
Melvin grinned, satisfied. "That's my girl."
Audrey smiled slyly. "I don't need it anyway."
_____"Welcome to The Cretia Show, Glendale California's very own talk show," Lucretia announced, a huge smile on her face. "Tonight, we welcome our special guests, Audrey and Melvin Weisenheimer. Audrey is a stunt double and actress, Melvin the lead filmer, both in Fredo's hit film industry, Fredoricci Gupta pictures."
The crowd clapped and whooped as the two emerged from backstage, holding hands and grinning wide and true. They sat down next to each other on a plush couch.
Lucretia's eyes were full of sparkles. "So, Audrey and Melvin. I'm sure you both know the reason we're here to talk tonight."
"Yeah, Fredo's movie. I'm really excited, actually." Melvin replied.
"I'm sure it'll be coolmazing," Audrey added in.
Lucretia giggled. "So, it's going to be based around you two. Would you care to explain what made your relationship so special?"
"Well, when we were little, Melvin was a bit of a jerkazoid. We were rivals for ten years, ever since daycare." Audrey explained.
"Yeah," Melvin said lightly. "I always had a crush on her though. But like she said. We fought all the time." They shared a little glance that said more than a thousand words.
Lucretia nodded. "I, for one, can agree with that statement. You see, between spying on Audrey and doing double agent work for your friend groups, it was pretty obvious." She smiled proudly.
Audrey laughed nervously. "Honestly, a lot of this is because of my best friend, Lotta. Hey Lotta, if you're watching this right now, love ya. But anyway, it took her moving away for me and Mel-man to realize that things could change at any second. I mean, she's back now, but still. She's what made us end the war"
"Ah, interesting. Melvin, I need to ask you. Before your truce, did Audrey ever come close to discovering your crush on her?"
Melvin laughed. "Yeah, actually. One time. We were competing in a sibling pageant—"
"I REMEMBER THAT!" Audrey burst suddenly. She seemed to realize that she interrupted and quickly covered her mouth. "Oops. Go on."
"—so anyway, her sister almost exposed me while she was roasting me. Zoe, I haven't forgotten." Melvin said dangerously.
"So, let's cut to the chase. Do you think Fredo will be able to portray your childhood on screen?"
Audrey jumped in. "I feel like he can't repli-copy our personalities. Anyone who was friends with us as kids gets what I mean."
Melvin nodded. "Exactly. Our life on Harvey street was so weird it almost felt like an acid trip," he laughed. "Though, if Fredo was to make the movie, I'm sure it would be interesting, he always had a knack for cinema."
Lucretia giggled. "As a fellow Harvey-streetian, I can agree with both of you. Any other words for the audience?"
"Let me warn you," Audrey replied, smirking slyly. "If Fredo's the director of this thing, inspect a whole heck of a movie."
