It was three months since the incident. The remaining gang worried for Snake. He hasn't spoke a word since they lost Ace. Snake was the only gang member that saw Ace's body, but he won't explained what he exactly saw.
The gang lived in apartments now. They all lived in the same hallway. Billy and lil Arturo shared, Grubber had one by himself, and Snake shared with Ace.
Four days ago, Murdoc Niccals, Gorillaz's bass player and Ace's long distant friend, came to stay a little. During Ace's last moment, he called Murdoc to keep Snake away from danger. Ace was confident about Big Billy, Grubber, and Lil Arturo, but Snake was different. The whole gang knew Snake suffered from depression and anxiety, so Ace knew Snake would of been this way when he died.
A years ago, before Ace left for Gorillaz. Grubber notified the gang about seeing cuts on Snake's forearm. Snake had an anxiety attack from knowing Ace was leaving and lost control.
Snake was fragile. He cried easily. With Ace gone now, Snake broke. He cared for Ace. The gang leader was like an older brother to him.
Present:
Murdoc sat by the serpent on the couch. Snake was curled up in the the edge, staring at the ground. He held Ace's shades in his hand. Snake was wearing an oversized hoodie, which was Ace's. Murdoc noticed it was Ace's favorite hoodie. When Murdoc got back from jail, Ace was wearing it on the day, Murdoc walked in.
Snake was pale and his hair was a mess. He was really skinny that Murdoc's breath could blow with away.
The bassist didn't know what to say to the serpent. "H-hey" he said, softly. Snake didn't flinched. He didn't respond. Murdoc sighed. The rest of the gang were out finding food. Murdoc stayed because Snake refused to leave. Murdoc wanted to pull the boy into a hug and whisper the words Snake needed the most. It's going to be alright. Murdoc noticed Snake's eyes. The were bagged. He didn't get enough sleep.
Murdoc couldn't take it anymore. He grabbed Snake, carefully and pulled him in a hug. Snake tried to pull away. But, the bassist's comfort was to much. He began to cry. The serpent hugged back and whimpered in Murdoc's chest. The fabric of the hoodie made Murdoc think of Ace
Happy memories of times he and Ace hung out and caused trouble. Murdoc began to cry, too. "It's going to be ok" he sobbed to Snake, "everything's going to be ok."
Snake's breathing slowed. The crying made him tired. Murdoc was glad Snake was falling asleep. He needed it. The bass player picked Snake up and walked him to Ace's room. After the death, Snake slept in Ace's bed. The gang tried to have him sleep in his own, but in the middle of the night he'll go back to Ace's. Murdoc laid Snake in the bed and covered him with the blankets. As Snake slept, Murdoc looked around the room. Ace's belongings. They made Murdoc remember.
He thought of when, he walked in after escaping prison and seeing Ace sitting on the couch. The band thought Murdoc was going to yell or fight Ace, but instead he hugged him. Ace and Murdoc were friends for years. Although Ace was younger than Murdoc, they still got along. Since Ace was friends with Murdoc, the gang leader tried to befriend 2D, the lead singer, but 2D was acting strange.(we'll talk about this later)
Murdoc saw Ace's vest hanging on the door. He held it in his arm and fell to his knees. He held it tight and cried. "Snake will be okay, Ace" He whispered to the vest, "I-I promise."
Murdoc slept on the couch. He thought of Ace explaining Snake's disorders to his at the airport. Ace had a soft spot for Snake over the years. He went from fighting with Snake to being very close to him. On the night of Ace's death, Murdoc promised to keep Snake safe. He will never let anyone hurt him.
I'm proud of this chapter. I feel like I put a lot of emotion in it. But still,😢
