Chapter 1

I woke up thinking please just let me sleep you stupid ass alarm clock, as slammed my hand down on the off button. I grabbed my phone, knowing there would be thousands of texts from Mya. I read them. Sometimes I just think why in the hell does she texts me at 5 when she knows I get up at 7:45. I grabbed a red crop top and some black joggers and got dressed.

"Hey, Honey," my mom said to me hoping I forgave her, "You ready for school?"

"Yes, I'm going to Mya's bye." I said and left.

When I got to Mya's all I heard was screaming. I knew it was Mya and her older brother Brendan fighting, so I walked into the kitchen to grab some cereal.

"Hii!" Her little brother Josh said. He has the biggest crush on me.

Sometimes I think why am I friends with Mya. I mean we are polar opposites she's a happy and cheery cheerleader. I am a normal girl who could care less about anything. She sees the world like a ray of sunshine, after everything she has been through. I've only been through a divorce and I hate the world. Then I remember Josh, the youngest.

She had called me crying "Please help me. Please."

"What are you talking about, Mya?"

"I need you now. Please come over."

"Ok. I'm coming."

When I got there I could not believe he was back. There were plates, vases, and glasses broken everywhere. I immediately looked for Josh before I found Mya. There he was the top of the stairs holding Josh like football.

"Noo!" I had screamed but it was too late.

He threw, like a football, down the stairs. I screamed for Brendan to catch him and he did. I immediately grabbed a knife and chased her father out of the house. He was drunk. Again

I wrapped my arms around Josh so tight like I never wanted to let go of him. He was crying and bleeding so I told Brendan to get a blanket, some band-aids, and Puppy, his favorite stuffed animal. I looked for Mya. When I went to go find Mya, I found her in the basement crying in the corner.

"Hi, how are you?"

I is good! How are you?" He said happily.

"I'm fine. Do you know where Mya is?" I said putting my bowl down and looking around.

"Yes, she is upstairs fwighting wit Bubba, but don't leave me!" he said grabbing my arm.

"I just wanna go see-"

"No pwease!!" he cut me off.

"Just real quick I'll be back" I sad kneeling down so I was eye level with him.

"Ok, bwe real quick."

I carried him to his playroom and told him to play with his favorite toys. Then ran upstairs to where all the fighting was.

"Oh just shut the fuck up and drive us to school!" she said throwing a remote at him.

"Well if you want a ride to school get her to do it." He said pointing to me. Fear spread across my face.

"It's not even fucking relevant to what I am asking you to do!" She said throwing her shoes at him.

"I do things for you all the time and get nothing in return! This is what I want now do it or you'll be walking!" He said and then nodded his head towards me as if telling her to talk to me.

"Ugh! He wants a date with you." She said annoyed, "Ok great she says yes lets go to school -"

"Haha. Me and your brother dating. You're funny." I said dying of laughter.  But when I realized she was serious, my laughter faded "Wait are you serious? Even funnier! I've known him since we were in diapers." Did he actually think I would go out with him? I mean I never thought of him like that. Even though he is good looking, the sweetest person I've ever met, has a nice body, a senior, and the most popular kid in the school. I've never realized what a catch Brendan actually is.

"Please, just one date. If it doesn't work out then fine. We can go anywh-"

Yes." I said a little too excitedly as I cut off his begging. "I mean sure I don't care as long as we get to school," I said more nonchalant.

"Yes, ok great!" He smiled that 1,000-watt gleaming smile.

"Oh, btw I'm sleeping over this week and next week," I said winking at him so he remembered to ask.

"Come on. Let's go lovebirds." Mya pushed us through the door.

"Oh shut the hell up," we said in unison as I grabbed Josh and got into the car.
