Boom, boom, boom! It was a loud and stormy night at Nova Light Stables as one of the mares was going into labor. "Come on, Angel! Push!" Jackson snorted as he peered in between the bars of the stable to his left. "Stop staring at my mare!" Diablo bellowed and bucked the stable wall, making the other stallion back away. "Mom push! You can do it!" Victoria cheered and clopped her hooves. The mare that was Angel, huffed and breathed heavily as she pushed hard trying to bring her newborn into this world. Lexi, one of the pups at the stable barked and whimpered. "We should really get Miss Blanca to check on Angel."
"Are you crazy?!" Timothy barked back at Lexi. "You know how Diablo is with our humans! He's snotty, stubborn and a hothead!" She backed off as Timothy did have a good point. An hour passed by as finally, two brown legs protruded from the Arabian mare. "Just a bit more my heaven!" Diablo said with a small nervous neigh. The labor was slow and long. Finally, a torso, then, a head and last, her two front legs. It was done, the mare had gave birth to a brown Arabian filly. Shortly after the foal was born, the mare laid her head down as her breathing slowed and her eyes closed.
"You did it my love!" Diablo snorted with excitement and nuzzled his mare's head. Something was off in the air. Angel hadn't of moved or spoke in response to her stallion. "Dear?" He gently lifted her head with his nose as her head fell limp onto the ground once more. "Mom?" Victoria said in a bit of a stale tone. "Mother? Wake up!" Luna, now the second youngest of the Arabian family, stomped in disbelief as of what was taking place in front of her.
"Enough girls, it's nature's course and apparently time for your mom to go." Diablo huffed in disappointment then turned his attention to the newborn foal. The filly slowly opened her eyes and looked around at the horses that stared back at her. "Welcome to the world, Navy." Diablo said as he tried helping the filly to stand. She wobbled but got her stance quickly. The rest of the night was solemnly quiet as the newborn curled up by the corpse of Angel being unacknowledged that the mare had passed away. With the death of his mare, he had now become a father of 3 daughters and a heart of tough love that now came with the loss. He wasn't going to be as soft as he use to be around his family, now that he had the duty of father and mother to balance.
