When I woke up I found a letter on my nightstand. I grabbed it as I sat up, dangling my feet off the bed, reading it in my mind.

"I went back to the hotel and got your things. I looked at your clothes and found they weren't really.......shadowhunter material. So, along with your clothes I put some new things in your dresser. Get dressed and meet me down stairs for training. Alec."

I set the letter back where it was and walked over to the dresser in the corner of the room.

When I opened the top drawer I found all of my clothes and a bunch of black clothes. They take the term shadowhunter way to seriously.

I pulled out a pair of black jeans and a dark gray t-shirt. I changed into them along with my shoes and slipped my phone in my pocket before heading downstairs.

When the elevator door opened to reveal the first floor Izzy stood there.

"Do you know where Alec is?" I asked.

"He's waiting for you in the training room." She answered.

"Where's the training room?" I asked.

She laughed and showed me where it was before leaving to do whatever it was she needed to do.

When I walked in Alec was leaning against the wall, spinning one of his arrows between his fingers.

He looked up when he heard me enter and said, "Finally your up. If you slept any longer I was gonna have Jace go and get your ass out of that bed."

"I would have much rather preferred you waking me up." I said as I walked over to him.

He rolled his eyes, leaning off the wall, and said, "Let's just get started." He then started skimming through the rack of weapons beside him.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I noticed something on my neck reflecting off the glass wall.

I pulled the top of my shirt down to reveal what seemed to be a tattoo. Like the ones Alec had.

"I had to do it to save your life," Alec suddenly said, making me turn to him, "You were bit by the demon."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Its a healing rune." He said, throwing me some type of blade. I caught it and the metal immediately glowed a shade of blue. "That's just one of many. Each rune gives you a special ability."

I looked up from the blade and asked, "So what exactly are shadowhunters?"

"Shadowhunters are also known as human-Angel hybrids who hunt demons." He answered.

"My dad had never mentioned any of this." I said.

"Maybe your dad wasn't your dad." He commented. I looked at his confused and shocked at the same time. "Clary didn't know the real identity of her parents until her eighteenth birthday. Then she found out her dad, Valentine, is a shadow hunter murder who now wants to kill all downworlders."

"Can a shadow hunter even do that?" I asked as we made our way to the center of the room.

"No, but Valentine stole the soul sword when Jace was in the city of bones which can kill all downworlders." He said, pulling out his own blade.

"So we're just sitting here while this guy Valentine walks around with a deadly weapon?" I questioned.

"We're trying to figure out how to get it back," He replied, "Besides Valentine can't activate it. Only an Angel can do someone with pure Angel blood."

"What about Clary's mom?" I asked, "Is she like Valentine?"

"She was far from him," He stated, "She was actually known as one of the most powerful Shadowhunters who ever lived."

"Lived?" I questioned, "What happened?"

Immediate sadness seemed to fill his eyes. "A demon got into the institute not that long ago," He answered, "It possessed me and I......I ended up killing Jocelyn." Jocelyn must have been her mom.

"I'm sorry I asked." I apologized.

"Its fine, let's just get started." He quickly said.

Our of nowhere he swung his blade at me. I wasn't fast enough to move so the tip of the blade sliced my shoulder.

"Ow!" I complained, covering the wound.

"Always keep your guard up." He explained.

He swung again but I brought my blade up just in time to block his.

"Now your getting the hang of it." He said.

Every swing he made at me u managed to block at the last second.

He did something new which was swinging at my abdomen area.

I jumped blade, avoiding the blade, and brought my arm up to swing at him.

He caught my arm with his free hand and twisted it behind back, causing me to drop the blade. "You were getting the hang of this." He rephrased.

As he talked I felt his warm breath on my neck. It was silent for a moment until I said, "I thought we were supposed to an training not breaking each others bones."

He managed a laugh and let me go. I turned to him and he pulled out some type of pen looking thing.

"What are you doing?" I asked as he raised it to my neck.

"Relax." He said. I felt a burning sensation in my skin as he retraced the healing rune on my collar.

The cut on my shoulder healed and the small pain in my arm stopped.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Its a steelie, you use it to draw your runes." He answered, shoving it back in his pocket.

When he looked back at me I noticed how close our faces were.

"Guys." A voice said causing us to practically jump away from each other.

We turned to the door to see Jace. "We have a problem."

I out my blade in my belt loop as we followed him out the door.

"What's the problem?" Alec asked as we walked down the halls.

"Valentine." Jace said as we entered the Ops center. "Sent a video I think we should all see together."

As we all gathered around the table Izzy pressed something on a tablet that was placed in her hands and a video popped up on the monitor of a tall, bald man. Must be Valentine.

She pressed play and he started talking.

"I hope your all doing well but I'm just going to get straight to the point." He said. "As you know I have the soul sword and you know exactly what I want to do with it. Sadly what I want cannot be done without a certain someone. If you do not willingly bring me one of my children I will have no hesitation to send someone to get them for me. You have fourty eight hours." The video cut out and everyone turned to look at each other.

"Children?" Clary immediately said. "Who is he talking about? We already know that he was lying about Jace being my bother." I decided not to ask about the whole brother thing cause it would obviously take a while.

"Do you think he could be talking about Stiles?" Izzy suggested.

"Me and Clary don't even look alike." I said.

"That still doesn't rule out the option." Jace said.

"Even if Stiles is Clary's sister why would Valentine want them. He knows only pure Angel blood can activate the soul sword."

"The only reason he would want them is if......" Izzy trailed off.

"They have pure Angel blood." Jace finished.

"We don't even know is Stiles is my brother." Clary said.

"Then we take a blood test," Alec said, "Then we'll know for sure."

"Only of your play with it Stiles." Izzy said.

I sighed and said, "Let's just get this over with."
