CHAPTER SEVEN

Later that day Ellie was watching Andrew and his band practice in the music room and she always wondered how her brother got so good with playing the drums. He played the drums as if they were easy. Ellie tried playing the drums when she was little, all she did was made loud noise that didn't sound good while Andrew made loud noise that actually had a rhythm and it sounded good. 

Ellie's phone rang and she excused herself so she could go answer the call and she knew it would be too loud if she stayed in the music room so she wen out in the hallway. " This is Ellie." she answered.

" Hi Ellie, uh, this is Ricky, but you probably knew that." Ricky awkwardly says.

Ellie chuckles and leans against the wall next to the door of the music room that was now closed. " Yeah, I did. But hi."

" Hi." Ricky says once again. " Um, you singing with Ashlyn today and I just wanted to tell you that you were really great. I mean, you probably don't need someone to tell you that you're really great, but I just wanted to."

Ellie smiles, glad that Ricky couldn't see the blush that formed on her face. " Oh, uh, thank you, Ricky. That means a lot to me."

" Good, good. I'm glad. Um, so I guess I'll see you later?" Ricky asks.

Ellie nods, mentally scolding herself for doing so knowing that Ricky couldn't see her. " Yeah, yes, you will. Um, bye."

After hanging up she walks back into the music room to see that they were done practicing. 

" So," Harlow gets her attention and she looks over at the older girl who was setting down her water bottle on a table. " who called you?"

" It was just a friend." Ellie said.

Andrew smirks. " I bet you it was Ricky."

Ellie rolls her eyes, a shy smile on her face as she looks away. Harlow raises an eyebrow. " Now I'm curious."

" It was just Ricky. He caught me singing with Ashlyn in the auditorium." Ellie tells them.

" Ashlyn as in EJ's cousin?" Lucas asks.

Ellie nods. " That's the one."

Avalon shakes her head. " Not a big fan of EJ."

" You guys know who Gina is?" Ellie asks them.

" Yeah, she's the transfer student." Andrew nods.

" Well," Ellie bit her lower lip, debating if she should tell them what she saw her do and eventually decided to do it. " I saw her take Nini's phone out of her backpack and put it in EJ's backpack."

Trevor looked at her with confusion. " At practice?"

Ellie nods. " Yeah. I don't know what I should do."

" You should tell her." Lucas joins in. " I would want to know if someone stole my phone."

Andrew nods. " Yeah, she's probably freaking out about it."

" But there has to be a reason why Gina did it." Ellie sighs.

" Well, Nini and Ricky did break up. And I heard that EJ and Ricky don't really get along." Harlow speaks up.

" He probably wants to go through Nini's phone to make sure she isn't cheating on him with Ricky." she shrugs her shoulders.

" Then I need to tell her, right?" Ellie asks as she looks at each of them.

" That would be the right thing to do." Trevor tells her.

Ellie nods, hoping that they were right about this.

At practice they were practicing the part that Gina has her dance solo and Ellie had to admit she was a talented dancer. 

" Everybody hold!" Miss Jenn suddenly says and Gina and the music stops. They look over to see Nini walking in.

Ellie watches as Miss Jenn talks to Nini about being late and not having her things organized. She also noticed how EJ looked away almost guiltily. Ellie told Nini about the whole Gina taking her phone and putting it in EJ's backpack and Nini was so greatful that Ellie told her because she knew not a lot of people probably wouldn't.

" Oh, Ellie!" Miss Jenn gets her attention. Ellie walks over to her and smiles. " Yes?"

Miss Jenn smiles. " Gina has pitched a whole new dance break for Gabriella and Taylor in the middle of Status Quo and she had Carlos work it out with her and it was dazzling."

" I know, Miss Jenn." Ellie sighs. " I was here."

Miss Jenn tilts her head to the side. " You were? Oh, I didn't realize. You were just so quiet."

Ellie forces a smile. " Yeah." she looks over at Gina who smiles at her and hands her a tray.

" Gina, why don't you hydrate and show Ellie the new choreo?" Miss Jenn asks.

- ˏˋ" Okay, so don't get me wrong Gina is nice and all, but I'm starting to think she's out to get me. I mean, she probably thinks I dance all beautifully like she can. Can I? The answer is no. I can not dance like that. I mean, I probably could with a lot of work, but wish me luck 'cause I'm gonna need tons of it and hopefully this dance doesn't kill me. We will see what happens." ˎˊ-

" This is a basic triple pirouette." Gina says and then shows Ellie.

Ellie stares at her with wide eyes. " That's basic?"

" This is a two count of krump, and then some Argentinian Tango." Gina smiles as she shows Ellie the dance moves.

Gina looks at her with a smile. " Piece of cake if you've spent a few months overseas."

Ellie forces a small smile and watches as Gina twirls and raises her tray up. " This is where you kick your face." she says as she shows her the move.

" I might actually kick my face if I did that." Ellie admits.

" Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine." Gina backs up. " Part two. Ready?"

Ellie groans while leaning her head back. " There's a part two?"

Ellie closes the door to her house and sighs as she leans against it.

" You're home late and you look exhausted." 

She looks over to see it was her mom who said that. She stands up.

" Just came home from practice and it's because I am." Ellie tells her. " I think Gina is trying to kill me with dance moves."

Clara chuckles. " What happened?"

" Gina added a whole new dance break for Gabriella and Taylor. She's not even my understudy and it seems like she's trying to make me quit." Ellie said and then her eyes grew wide.

" She's trying to get me to quit so Nini can be Gabriella and then get Ricky to quit so EJ can be Troy." she realizes.

Her mom stares at her with confusion and tilts her head to the side, not understanding anything she was talking about. " What?"

She shakes her head. " Whatever you just said may or may not be true, but you just keep trying your best and I know you're going to do great with whatever you do."

Ellie smiles and hugs her mom. " Thanks, mom."

Clara smiles and then says, " So, tell me about Ricky."
