THE BELL RANG FOR LUNCH (and though she usually hated the piercing ring of their high school bell, it quickly becomes her best friend by the time lunch rolls around.) Bobby engulfed her things from the desk, clutching her half-open pencil case by the zipper, books and papers  stacked upon each other threatening to escape the clutch of her arms but nothing, absolutely nothing would get in the way of Bobby and lunch. She swerved around her classmates and bolted out of the classroom, straight towards her locker, missing the teacher's warnings about tonight's reading and next week's topic test. Bobby didn't care, she just wanted food. Because had she been stuck in the classrooms even for an extra second, her grumbling stomach would've been belting out Mariah Carey's I Wanna Know What Love Is.

Not that she's been thinking about love at all...

Except that's the only thing she's been able to think about. But can you blame her?! The night before, she had blown out the candles on her homemade birthday cake and they had clapped and sung and cheered and while they were all enjoying the jolly, good evening, her grandmother decided that it would be the right time to reveal to her  that she was destined to find love in this year of her life, (oh you know, just casual Morgan-Lovell stuff, a fortune telling grandma!) reminding her that yes, she was single and lonely and opening the wound of heartbreak that Bobby thought she stitched up real well with the constant repeat of ABBA's Knowing Me Knowing You.

To understand the gravity of grandma Helena's statement, one must first be aware of the fact that Bobby had just broken up with her two years-boyfriend Jonathan Riggs. For unknown reasons, the week before he just ended it, just like that, without even batting and eyelid. Then the insecurities began to pile up, slowly gnawing at the corners of her heart, till only necessary remnants were left, just enough to keep her suffering. For days Bobby reviewed the best of her flaws and she had narrowed it down to three which most likely became the cause of Jonathan falling out of love with her.

1. Her laugh was kinda weird, it was like a gasping whale but also a shrieking witch ??
2. She didn't like to hold hands. She has no idea why but holding hands or any kind of PDA didn't really sit well with her.
3. She hated running and Jonathan was part of the varsity track team and always begged her to train with him. (But BOY! Who would want to do that?!)

There were so many more reasons and it all came from the faults at her end. It brought upon sleepless nights, spontaneous crying sessions, fluctuating desires to eat a lot or to eat nothing. Truly it was one of the worst kinds of pain. So like hell she was going to be falling in love again any time soon. Love was a a toxic bitch and Bobby liked to keep toxic things out of her life.

But her grandmother and her best friend, fate, seemed to have other plans. And now the girl's done nothing but worry whether her grandmother's fortune telling was true for once. Surely not. Bobby comforted herself. She literally ordered how to be a fortune teller for dummies online! Because Bobby really cannot have her heart broke again, not this soon. She needs time, preferably forever. At this point, she's just about ready to buy twenty cats and knit them all sweaters for the rest of her life.
