Lily sat under the willow tree in the middle of the school courtyard. She had a book in her hand while her back rested against the base of the thick tree.
Her small fingers softly stroked the sides of the book as the gleaming sun shone down on her.
Her golden locks cascaded down her shoulders and back, while she gave no thought about the possible stains her white dress would have from sitting on the slightly wet grass.
She curled up looking like a kitten with her knees drawn into her chest and her book settled on top of them.
Too engrossed in the novel, Lily had no idea that the eyes of many were glued to her, entranced by her ethereal beauty.
She especially didn't notice the intense stare of two particular people.
And maybe, if she had stopped and paid attention to her surroundings every once in a while, she could have been prepared for what was about to come.
