Ben Stevens sat on the bleachers holding a water bottle while sweat dripped down his face . His last period of the day was gym and their teacher allowed them to sit for few minutes to cool down before class finished.
He wasn't keen on making any friends and didn't bother to sit with any of the guys from his class, in fact he sat a little further away so he could sit in some peace and quiet.
He pulled his phone out to see if Lily had messaged him at all. He had told her to let him know immediately if something happened to her. Noticing no new messages from her he went to put his phone in his bag, but because of the sweat on his body and hands, the phone slipped and fell onto the bleachers below.
Grunting in annoyance he went to pick it up but stopped himself when one of his classmates had decided to help him out.
Sitting back and looking up at the guy in front of him he noticed that he had an intense stare and a wide grin. From it he got this uneasy feeling, but Ben didn't think too much about it, because there have been many times he's felt like that.
"I was going to ask if you'd be interested in joining the football team but it seems like you can't even hold your phone let alone hold a football"
Ben narrowed his eyes at the brown haired guy in front of him, for a few seconds they just glared into each-others eyes before Ben looked away. The uneasy feeling intensified but he let it go.
"Who said I knew anything about football?"
He just chuckled and handed the phone back to Ben but didn't make a move to leave. Ben just wished for this conversation to be over so he could leave.
"I didn't say you did, but we do have tryouts soon and thought you might be interested. We're always looking for new people."
Ben had heard what he was saying but still focussed his attention away from him. Sooner or later he'd leave, is what Ben had hoped for, but apparently this guy had a different idea.
"You don't talk much do you? Well, my names Ethan...Ethan Jacobs"
Ethan held his hand out for him to shake but he just ignored it. He wasn't going to trust anyone so easily. Not again.
Looking from the corner of his eyes he noticed that Ethan had just shrugged off his rude nature.
It was like Ethan didn't even notice the scowl he had on his face, any sane person would have walked away within seconds of seeing the angry look in his eyes, but for some reason this Ethan guy was so adamant on becoming Ben's friend.
"Look, it was nice meeting you, but I don't particularly feel like talking so don't expect me to talk back to you, at all."
Ethan just looked at him and laughed "that's alright, I can do all the talking"
Ben just turned away and sighed in annoyance. He looked at the teacher waiting for him to dismiss the class so he didn't have to suffer for any longer.
"Was that your little sister that was with you in the cafeteria today?"
To Ben this seemed like an annoying question but Ethan had purposely asked it. It was apart of his little scheme to get to know Lily through her older brother.
Of course Ethan knew most things about them, he was one of the many students who had decided to search them up on social media. Both him and Audrey spent the rest of their lunch and spare talking about her and searching for information online, but they were quite unlucky in finding much about them.
So together they decided that they would find out more information before making their move. Ethan was lucky that Ben was in his class, all he had to do was act like he was extremely friendly and slowly milk the information from him.
So far he knew that Ben had trust issues so it was going to be harder than they thought. Ethan also noticed that his question caused Ben to slightly tense up.
"Yes"
The one worded answer was enough for Ethan to back off for a bit. He didn't want to push his luck and ruin everything in one day.
"Well, I hope the both of you have a good time settling in. I supposed we'll be seeing each other quite a lot"
Although what Ethan said was innocent enough, Ben felt as if there was some hidden message. He narrowed his eyes but decided he was just being nice so he just nodded his head and thanked him.
Thankfully the teacher has dismissed them after that and Ben had bolted. Ethan stayed where he was sitting, he watched as Ben met up with his sister outside the car park before heading to their car. He even mentally took note of the number plate before one of his mates distracted him.
"Hey we're heading to Emma Winslows after this, you wanna lift?"
Ethan smiled but shook his head "Sorry Dave, but I am already meeting up with my beautiful girlfriend"
As he said that his eyes focussed on Audrey that was walking with her cheerleading friends. Dave smirked at Ethan "have fun then" he chuckled before leaving.
Audrey looked up towards Ethan, their eyes met and she smirked knowingly. She turned to her friends and quickly said goodbye before jogging up to where Ethan was on the bleachers.
She stood between his legs and kissed him passionately. When Audrey pulled away she noticed Ethan staring towards the car park.
"She's in that car, the black mustang"
Audrey twisted around to look, while Ethan pulled her body in and rested his chin on her shoulder looking towards the car.
From in her brothers car Lily felt as though someone was watching her making her feel uneasy again. She lifted her eyes from her book and noticed that from the bleachers across the oval, the same two people from the cafeteria were watching her.
She stared back towards them but before she could make anything of it her brother had nudged her scolded her for not listening again.
She blushed from embarrassment "Sorry Benny." Ben looked into her eyes and softly smiled, she had this power over everyone and it was working on Ben.
"Don't worry little Lily pie" Ben said ruffling her hair before turning to start the car.
Pouting childishly, she turned back to look towards the bleachers and was surprised to see the both of them still watching her. Before she turned away she could have sworn she saw the girl blow her a kiss and smirk, making her shiver.
