Yuri was tired. This was the third week in which there had been no new death. She hadn't left her room, making sure not to make direct contact with everyone. She was right about the fact that it was her who was causing these deaths, but she had no more theories and with Afia back, she couldn't experiment anymore.

But she had to, there was no other choice. Yuri locked herself in the bathroom and called the local pizza place, then waited 10 minutes before coming out. "Fia, can you go get some tea from the shop downtown?" Afia looked up.

"Sure? Usual?"

"You know it!" Afia smiled.

"I'll be back."

Yuri picked at her fingernails nervously. About three minutes after Afia left, the doorbell rang. Yuri ran to the door and threw it open.

"Hi!" Yuri smiled brightly at the delivery boy.

"Hello," he said confused. Yuri grabbed the pizza from him, intentionally brushing her fingers against his, then set the box down on the table. She grabbed his hand and set the money directly into his palm

"Have a nice night!" She shut the door in his face. Yuri grabbed her shoes, hearing him shuffle off. She put on her coat, snagging her purse as she left the door. Following the boy was easier than expected, Yuri made sure to tread quietly, keeping a five foot distance between them.

If this worked, she would have herself the evidence she needed. If it didn't, well, she just signed the death warrant of the poor kid.

Yuri heard racing footsteps, air whistling, and what she thought was soft growls. Yuri turned in circles, trying to see where the noises were coming from. She heard a scream and whipped towards the sound. The delivery boy was gone. Yuri ran.

The sounds got louder, ripping, screaming, splashing. Yuri spotted the entrance to an alley up ahead and she picked up speed. When she reached it, she gasped.

A tall man had the limp body of the boy in his hands. She was too late. The man turned to her, eyes red, light glinting off of his extended fangs. He dropped the boy. Yuri's heart rate skyrocketed, slowly, she raised her phone and snapped a photo.

The man took one step forward and that was all Yuri needed. She bolted. Yuri was terrified. She heard the man following behind her and she took a sharp turn, bursting out onto the main street. A boy who's skin tinted sickly green in the moonlight jumped out in front of her screaming.

Yuri side stepped him and ran. Maniacal laughter sounded above her as what Yuri recognized as a pixie flew past her. She took a left, towards the downtown area, and tripped over something hard. Yuri lept to her feet, only to have something grab onto her leg.

Yuri kicked whatever it was off and continued running. She didn't know where she was going, all she knew was that she had to get away, and get away fast.

She rounded another corner, the sounds of growls and screams fueling her fear. She needed to get out of the way, she needed to get home somehow, without Afia noticing.

Yuri lept over a box and skid in between two parked cars, jumping a low fence and sprinting across someone's yard. Long pounding footsteps sounded to her right, so Yuri went left, trying to outrun whatever these creatures were.

She was wrong in the fact that they were working alone. These monsters were working together, and now that she was within their grasp, they would kill her next. Yuri ran faster, ignoring the pain in her legs and her burning lungs.

The only thought present in her mind was hide. Yuri's feet carried her towards the tea shop, it'd still be open, and she could barricade herself inside. Though, the monsters might chase her in.

Yuri saw the light of the shop up ahead, and she picked up speed, listening as the sounds grew fainter. Yuri grabbed the handle of the door and yanked it open, throwing herself inside. She doubled over, coughing. She was safe. Right?

Wrong. High pitched laughter filled Yuri's ears causing her to look up into the piercing eyes and sharp teeth of angry fae. Yuri gasped and took a step backward. Then another. She reached behind her, feeling the door handle behind her. She stood still for a moment, willing the fae to stop coming closer.

Then she pulled open the door and bolted, kicking it closed in their faces. Yuri tripped again, over the feet of something, pinwheeling her arms and falling. She looked up, seeing nothing but a dark mane and fangs and she screamed.

Yuri scrambled to her feet and continued running, seeing two options ahead. The main road, or Alligator Alley. She didn't know what had gotten into her, but she chose Alligator Alley and dove into it. Right before she reached the end, someone she recognized as the Dark Elf blocked her path.

Yuri stopped. A troll and a boy with the familiar mane in front of the shop appeared behind him. The vampire who killed the delivery boy jumped down into the alley with another black haired man, causing Yuri to step back and almost step on a snake that slithered past and grew, gaining a human top half.

The pounding footsteps grew louder, revealing a giant, who knelt down and opened his hand to reveal a boy holding a staff and a pixie in one hand, and a pink haired boy and what looked to be a banshee in the other. A wolf wiggled its way underneath the giant's foot and turned into a boy behind the Elf, tiptoeing to see over his shoulder.

The air around Yuri grew hotter and whistling filled the alley as something landed behind her. Yuri whirled around to see a boy with wings extended kneeling on the ground. He stood up and smiled wide, revealing sharp teeth.

"Hello Mistress."

I just realized that Lee Yuri is the Korean name of Felicity Lee from my unpublished book Metanoia which I took down for editing, I really need to change that.
