Catching Up.

*Kamani's POV*

"So you coming over or what?" Syd asked me on the phone. I looked down at my computer screen.

"Eh, I have work to do girl." I chuckled. I heard her pout and felt bad.

"But I want to see you!" She sounded a little displeased with my answer. Ah, fuck it. I need to get out of the house anyway. Whenever I'm not on duty, I'm most likely at home.

"Alright. Send me the address and I'll be there in a hour or so. I gotta freshen up." I said, smiling. Sydnei squealed and agreed then we hung up. Damn, she's excited.

I laughed and went to get freshened up. I checked my phone and read the address then got dressed. I hopped in my car and headed over to Sydnei's place.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Coming!" I heard Syd yell. I rubbed my hair even though it was in a ponytail. Sydnei opened the door dressed in a black sports bra, grey sweats and running shoes. I tried not to stare at her curvy body so I focused in on her face. She was sweating.

"Damn, what you been doing?" I asked smiling. Syd giggled and moved to the side letting me in.

"I just got back in from a quick jog. I had to keep busy before you came, ya know?" she explained.

"Right, right  So wassup?" I asked, taking a seat on her couch. She has a nice house. I wonder if--

"Leilanee's at work so it's just you and me. But first, I gotta go shower." Well, that answered my question. She walked out of the living room and I caught myself staring at her ass. Phew! I grabbed my phone and decided to hop on Facebook.

Scroll....Scroll...She always in drama.... Scroll...

25 minutes went by and I was starting to get bored.

"Damn Syd. Save some water for the rest of the world!" I joked. She's taking entirely too long.

I was about to get up but she finally walked back to the living room. She had changed into a belly shirt and some dark blue fitted jeans that hugged her hips just right. I licked my lips and looked away.

"So, where you been?" Syd plopped down on the couch inches away from me. Eh, I knew she was gonna ask that.

"Shit, living." I know it was a plain ass answer but truth is, I cant tell my best friend of 9 years that I had once fallen in love with her. I was scared of commitment back then and losing my best friend because of my mixed emotions.

"Um.. that's all I get?" Syd looked at me and rolled her eyes playfully. I shrugged.

"Nah, Mani. I know you. I wanna know why you up and disappeared on me." She put her hand on my thigh. I stared at Syd's face and admired how pretty she was. She barely had on makeup and was flawless!

"What?" she asked, scrunching up her face half smiling. I shook my head and looked down.

"Well, I know I should've told you but I just couldn't---" I stopped midway through my sentence.

Man, that was years ago. Sydnei's happily taken. What type of person would I be to mess that up because of old feelings? A selfish ass bitch.

"You just couldn't... what?" Syd was inches away from my face. I could feel her breath on my cheek. I couldn't tell if she wanted to kiss me or was just trying to get me to spill the beans. So I kept my head down avoiding her question.

"Fine, don't tell me. But don't go missing again on me." she scooted away from me and turned on the TV.

"What do you wanna watch?" Syd flipped through the channels and I sunk lower in the couch so I could relax. Syd took it upon herself to lay her long legs across my lap. I glanced at her and she bucked her eyes at me.

"Oh so what? I can't be comfortable either? Stop acting brand new!" she nudged my head.

"Now you know I hate that." I grabbed her feet and pulled her unto the floor as I raised up off of the couch. I stared as she laughed uncontrollably.

"Let me go, Mani!"

"Nope, you done got me started." I smile and drag her more. She's so goofy. Any other girl I'd do this to would get mad and be in their feelings.

Some kind of way, Syd wrapped her body around my ankles and made me fall. I fell on the side of her catching myself with my hands. We burst into laughter. I rolled over into my side and Syd pressed her body into mine, facing me.

The laughter stopped and I couldn't look away from her eyes. Her chestnut brown eyes. We were so close.

"I can't believe this right now." Syd whispered playing with my baby hair. She used to always do that.

"I know right." I whispered back. Silence fell over us and I started feeling bad about wanting to kiss her. I got up and fixed my clothes. Sydnei did the same.

"I gotta go."

"Wait. Can I show you something first?" she asked walking towards the hallway. I hesitated.

"What is it?" Oh boy..

Syd bit her lip and sashayed down the hall slowly. And just like any other person would, I followed that ass.....
